Yup, it’s coming down now.
It’s a snowstorm - we have these every year, remember? I’m not taking any extra precautions but I walk to work.
It’s finally coming down and it’s coming down hard.
The office is a ghost town. IT is the only group left.
I’m out in North Central Worcester County, just a town down from the NH border and we’ve been snowing for about an hour and a half to two hours now. It’s light and fluffy, which is good, as there’s lots of it already and we are still recovering from the Ice storm. We are one of the lucky few in our town with power restored after a week. Many friends still out and waiting. After just getting power back, it was so depressing getting everything set up to go again. I"m just hoping the light and fluffiness will keep it from breaking the thousands of branches that are just hanging on by a strip of bark. There are still streets that have power lines down all over and most of the town still has branches hanging precariously over wires. If the power goes out again, I’m going to …light the candles, start up the borrowed generator I haven’t returned yet and deal with it. But I won’t like it. Just so someone knows.
I’m guessing you’re IT.
Everyone who doesn’t have to be here has left too. Our power blinked out a little while ago. It came right back, but it’s not supposed to go out at all! (It should have gone to emergancy back up battery power, and then the generators should have kicked in. Though by the time that the generators would have kicked in, the regular power was back on.)
Yeah, I’m with you…sad. Hopefully I’m not going to join the ranks soon, but you just never know.
I’m at home working (which I do often anyway) today. The basement is COLD…think I’ll go make some cocoa…
Worked at home today. Husband went to the market last night and bought Cornish game hens. We’re going to eat, drink and hang out as long as necessary!
We’re on holiday hours, so I had the day off. Oh, the joys of seniority!
Seriously, this is it? Count me as unimpressed. In Cleveland, we call a snowstorm like this “Tuesday”. And now the entire city seems shut down…
Granted, my commute is entirely on the T. Still, even the green line wasn’t slowed down. My trip home took an extra fifteen minutes because I decided to walk an extra mile, rather than take a shuttle to the T, to see what the big deal was about. And I suppose if everyone tried to come home at the normal hour, things would have been ugly. Still… meh.
Got home to find out I was parked on th e wrong side of the road for the snow emergency. sigh A 25 minute walk to the friendly confines of Pat’s Towing, $115 (and a ticket I haven’t looked at yet), and 15 minutes to find and dig out a legal spot later, I’m home and eating dinner.
I thought I would post since, hey, 3:30am…why not. I had to work yesterday and since they consider us “essential personnel” we all had to stay. I only live a few minutes away so the commute wasn’t bad. We did lose power a few times at work. That is one of the things that drives me nuts, losing power at work. I understand that other houses and business lose power too, but I just don’t like the idea of not having power at MY work. Because I work at a freakin’ power plant! I know regulations say that we are not allowed to use the power we generate but there should be a stipulation for when we lose power there. You know, run an extension cord up to the turbine and plug it in. Oh well, rant done. I have the next 3 days off and so I am going to just enjoy the winter weather on the South Shore. And do some shoveling too.
Shoveled out last night once. Shoveled out this morning. I’m now going out to shovel again.
We have everything we need here. No need to go out. Pepper Mill and MilliCal are baking the last batch of Christmas cookies. After I come back in, I think I’ll shower and put together a presentation for my next interview.
