Agreed. I want him to rot in anonymity.
Also, so long as he’s alive, he can’t be turned into a martyr (right?). No 78 virgins in heaven for you!

It’s a steady job, but he wants to be a paperback writer.
I’ve never understood the “if he gets the death penalty, then we’re no better than him” argument. Were the Allies equal to the Nazis because they both killed people?
Capital punishment puts helpless persons to death.
War is generally fought against entities that are capable of making war right back.
The two are remarkably different.
I may be a fool, but I’m not an idiot. I didn’t look at the address, it was at the top of the google search - I was just looking for trial information to answer **Trinopus’ **question.
Are these better?

I agree. People are calling for the death penalty but as far as I’m concerned death is too good for him. Especially now that I see he wants death in order to become a “martyr.” Fuck him.
As a runner myself, the Boston Marathon is our holy grail. The joy of crossing a finish line is like no other joy - especially THAT finish line. How anybody could want to tarnish that innocent joy is beyond me. He and his brother, IMO, are pure evil.
Another vote for life in prison. Killing him makes him a martyr and that’s what terrorists like him want.
I’m perfectly OK with making a martyr out of him and anyone else who wants to be one.
Off topic but why is the Boston Marathon special? Aren’t they all 26 point something miles? What difference does it really make?
The Boston marathon is held on Patriots Day, which commemorates the first battles of the War of American Freedom.
Yes, but why would that have any relevance for Canucks like Soylent Juicy?
Tradition. It’s the oldest continuously-run marathon in North America, originating in the 1890’s as part of the movement that also resulted in the modern Olympics. And, it’s always been integral to the local community in a way few other sporting events can approach. It’s special in sort of the way the Masters is special in golf.
Actually the oldest in the world, per the Boston Athletics Association, and to add of ElvisL1ves’ post.
You can’t just pays your money to run Boston (although you can raise enough charity money and do it that way) - you qualify by running another marathon fast enough.
It’s not the Patriots Day reason, IMO.
It’s because it’s so difficult to get into. You have to qualify (and be FAST) in your age group and in order to get that good you have to train like a mofo. It takes serious dedication to commit to the training. Unless you’re running for charity, in which case you have to raise a large amount of money and might still have to qualify, I don’t know. There are only a certain number of spots and you have to be fast enough and lucky enough to get a spot. Only people who are hugely dedicated to the sport get a chance at a Boston registration.
But pretty much it’s the bragging rights of being able to say “I ran Boston.”
Then he’s a real coward. He had plenty of opportunities to die as a martyr - including the lengthy period when he was cowering in that boat and getting shot at. All he had to do was stand up and throw something at the nearest cop, and BLAM then he would have been a martyr.
That’s really cool, I didn’t know that. Now I’m wondering what the hardest marathon in the US is. Probably one of the hotter cities.
Imprisonment makes someone a martyr, too.
Exactly! He and his brother were devoted to a twisted, perverted version of a religion practiced by a quarter of the world’s population. Imagine if the only Christian you had ever met was Fred Phelps.
I was listening to NPR and heard a woman outside the court house. She was a victim of the bombing and came across as a real decent human being. Among other things she mildly praised the defense team. I googled her and found some sites reporting that she had pulled off a major hoax at the bombing. I was like WTF how come NPR wasn’t reporting it?
Then I realized the sites were “truther” type sites. Bastards. It’s bad enough to suffer through the bombing. Imagine googling your name and a few hits near the top are reporting that you are a fraud.
