Boston Bomber guilty on all 30 counts

Story. I really hope that he is sentenced to life without parole.

I’m in full agreement with you on this one. While certainly 100% guilty and deserving of a harsh sentence, were I a juror, I’d be hard pressed to agree to the death penalty, given his age at the time of the bombing and the undoubted influence exercised over him by his brother.

But then I’m the mother of two sons and may be slightly biased. (I’d have never been chosen for this jury).

You will probably be disappointed. He will likely get the same sentence as Timothy McVeigh.

I have zero sympathy and don’t buy the brother aspect of things other than in a peripheral way. I just think that 50 years in a super-max prison will inflict far more suffering on this murderous little shit than any other punishment.

Bastard. He should burn in hell just like his brother…

I don’t believe in the death penalty…but I could probably find it fairly easy to beat him toothless, if I didn’t like his attitude. A close childhood friend ran the Boston Marathon that day. Had he hurt or killed her, I don’t know what I would have done.

I don’t believe in the death penalty, period. That aside, I truly believe the most harsh punishment that could be inflicted on this shit stain would be for him to live a long, long life in prison. Day after boring day, with nothing to think about but how his life could have been if only he hadn’t been so stupid and cruel.
Death would be too merciful.

The only thing that makes me think the death penalty might be better is the remote chance that Isis or some other similar Islamist group could take hostages and demand his release in exchange for the hostages. It would be the ultimate in propaganda for isis, even if no exchange ever took place. And it would bring shit stain, who deserves to wither and die in obscurity, back into the spotlight.

Nor I. Even though there’s no question what he did, if we kill him for it, that makes us killers too. We need to be *better *than him, not to engage in reprisal and hatred ourselves.

That. But not in solitary, where he slowly go insane. I want him to be visited daily by an imam. I want to him to go sane instead, to come to understand what he did and how badly he went against the wishes of Allah and how he will pay for it forever and how he can never make it right.

Well I have no problem with the death penalty, jail is reprisal too, just on a different level. I don’t hate him, just don’t want him to live.

Jail is about protecting the public from criminals (and in the case of some crimes, protecting criminals from the public). Reprisal is an inefficient method of producing good social outcomes.

If pigs could fly and if cruelty were legal I’d say blow his legs off, like those poor folks he maimed. But don’t give him prosthetics, instead let him crawl on his belly like the serpent he is, slithering around in prison for the rest of his days.

But this is reality. He wants to die, so he can be a matyr. Don’t put him to death. A life without parole in supermax is the best punishment for this scum.

I like ElvisL1ves’ idea of an imam coming everyday for prayers to show how he truly failed Allah.

I can get behind this. If he gets the death penalty I won’t lose any sleep though.

(A lot of Canadians attend the Boston marathon, and a good friend of mine had just cleared the zone minutes before.)

What in the world do Muslims have against marathoners?

We need an applause emoticon. In a 24 point font.

I never want to see or hear from that evil guy again. Toss him in a cell and throw away the keys.

Has he said this? This is the first I’ve heard of it, but I’m not following the trial closely.

I have to agree. Let him spend the next 50 to 60 years in a little room, living a lonely life, eating prison food and never seeing the sun shine again.

Ooooooh! I like!

He wrote (carved) inside the boat (that he was captured in) he was jealous of his brother dying because he was now a martyr (or has gone where martyrs go when they die in this mortal world.

Jannutul Firdaus (inshallah) = roughly *Paradise of Firdaws *(where martyrs, prophets and truthsayers reside in heaven, the highest honor). Inshallah = Allah willing.

Muslim/Islam experts please correct my rough understanding if I am wrong.
Also here, from the trial:

What’s with the daily mail links? Boston hasn’t been British for centuries!

I didn’t click but idiots are fond of the Daily Mail. Islamophobia? A bonus!

Boston made it quite clear that it did not wish to be British some time ago…
