Botticelli #37

Are you member of a family of which many members in different generations are quite well-known even today for their achievements in fields as diverse as music, philosophy, or banking?

Yes.

I don’t know who you mean, take a DQ - if you need one.

I was talking abou Jakob Mendelssohn from the Mendelssohn dynasty.

Well, then, without the DQ: Are you Mozart, one of whose first names was Johann, IIRC?

If not, nonetheless a DQ: Was your native tongue German?

Tattooed singer/songwriter John Mayer, who played the clarinet in grade school but took up the guitar after seeing Marty McFly jam on a guitar.

DQ: Are you a military leader?

Joe Miller.

I think Johann Mozart is indeed the JM whose identity we’ve been trying to pin down, so I’ll wait until this is confirmed before I ask my next DQ and IQ.

Yes indeed, I am Johann Mozart, better known of course as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! Congratulations to Schnitte. with Sternvogel and Biffy following close behind. Thanks for playing!

Nice work- my JM was “Baby Jessica,” AKA Jessica McClure, who was rescued from a well she’d fallen into in West Texas, when she was 19 months old.

I haven’t had time to participate in the Botticelli threads the past couple of months. Since this one is closed, I’d like to ask a question of Dead Cat:

Does your user name come from A Bucket Of Blood?

Huzzah for Schnitte!

Tell us, when you went to hear the young Mozart play, would you go through the door marked “Fops” or “Dandies”?

Nice play, and thanks to Dead Cat.

I assume that now it’s my turn to function as chooser in Botticelli #38?

Never heard of it, take a DQ - oh, sorry, we’ve finished :). No, it was simply a case of me signing up to the SDMB out of curiosity, and we all know the fate of inquisitive felines.

Schnitte, get the new game going whenever you’re ready!

Here’s the Wiki article on it (contains spoilers). And here’s a picture that includes the Dead Cat ‘sculpture’.

In a nutshell, slow-witted Walter Paisley wants to be an artist. He accidentally kills a cat and, acting on the words of a Beatnick’s poem, turns it into a sculpture. When he’s asked the name of his ‘sculpture’ he replies hesitatingly, ‘Dead Cat?’

Sound like a cool film, I wasn’t really going for the psycho-artist association though! Just shows how you should take care when choosing your screen name, I’ve also been accused of liking roadkill - not that any of it particularly bothers me. Thanks for the info.

One of my favourites. A ‘bucket’ of blood may be overstating it a bit. There’s a little on the edge of a frying pan at one point. Maybe ‘A Thimble Of Blood’. Some great lines in it. Personal faves:

‘I don’t know, man. I’m too far-out.’

'Life is an obscure hobo, bumming a ride on the omnibus of art. ’

‘You’re just a simple farm boy. The rest of us are sophisticated beatnicks!’
