Nope, it wouldn’t have helped me. Ya got us again.
Hmm. Never heard of her. Has anyone else?
Joy Adamson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joy Adamson (20 January 1910 – 3 January 1980) (born Friederike Victoria Gessner) was a naturalist, artist, and author best known for her book, Born Free, which describes her experiences raising a lion cub named Elsa. Born Free was printed in several languages, and made into an Academy Award-winning movie of the same name. In 1977, she was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art.
Oh, yeah, I knew who she was as soon as I saw the name. I thought she was German, though. I remember Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion, and the TV series *Daktari *which was inspired by the book and movie. I even remember a friend of mine singing: “Born Free! My father’s a doctor!..”
Ah, the Born Free lady. OK, got it. Good one.
My sister had all three of those books - Born Free, Living Free and Forever Free - when I was a kid. To this day a Land Rover doesn’t look right to me without a lion lying on top of it…
BTW, if you’re interested in that sort of thing, I strongly recommend George Adamson’s autobiography, My Pride and Joy.
