IQ:

Did you send a midget to the plate in Major League Baseball?

Correct on the Vukoviches.

EH, we should try to find out what sport. With only 2 DQs left, make the first one multiple choice (e.g., football, baseball, basketball), then if a yes, narrow it down with the other. If a no, then suggest some other sport(s).

Yes, I am Bill Veeck (as in “Wreck”)

Veeck was the colorful former owner of the Cleveland Indians, St Louis Browns, and Chicago White Sox. He was something of a legendary figure in baseball 30+ years ago, but I’d bet few fans under 40 know his legacy today.

Well done, EH!

OK, I remember that. He was betting the pitcher couldn’t get inside the midget’s strike zone and he was right.

Heh. Supposedly he told the midget that, if he took a swing, a sniper in the stands would kill him. It was just a stunt, and Veeck wanted a walk. I’ve been an Indians fan for a long time, and Veeck is still legendary in Cleveland.

Thanks, bordelond. Good one.
