Botticelli - April 2023

No clue, in all likelhood I’ve never heard of this person but if by some miracle I can think of someone who fits the description before tomorrow noon I might post again.

Eureka!

Are you John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt?

Drat – just realised he was ruled out by DQ 14. Oh, well…

Alas, I am not.

Probably not Joe Schmoe, either…

I got nothin’

Time’s up. I am the Alsatian priest and peacemaker, considered by some the Gandhi of his day,

Johann Friedrich Oberlin

For more: J. F. Oberlin - Wikipedia

Checking past Botticelli threads, I see I’ve mentioned him 11 times before, including as recently as last month.

In the future I must remember to ask if any of your choices has an Ohio connection.

My former boss’s daughter went to Oberlin College, so, yes, I’ve heard of him.

I’ve heard of the college. Probably heard of the man, too, if only in EH’s posts.

Thanks! Our next letter is

I

IQs:

  1. Did I kill your father and should I prepare to die?
  2. Did you preach naked and barefoot for three years?
  3. Did you do stage designs for Ben Jonson?

I’m not Inigo Montoya, Ignatius or Inigo Jones.

Correct on the Inigos. #2 was the prophet Isaiah.

DQ: Real?

I’ve heard of the college and knew it was named after someone named Oberlin (to the point of incorrectly guessing him when I was Oliver Wendell Jones) but didn’t know his first name began with a “J”. My only consolation is that I thought that Religious might have been the category we missed, Germany was probably his origin and was wracking my brains for all of the Johann’s I could think of.
