That concludes our DQs. Tawk amongst yourselves, and please ask all earned DQs by noon EST tomorrow.
Let’s see 76-80. Mel Brooks had Silent Movie and High Anxiety. Gene Wilder had 2 movies but they weren’t contemporaneous. The Zuckers had Kentucky Fried Movie and Airplane! Woody Allen had Annie Hall and probably others.
If I remember my dates correctly.
It can’t be Annie Hall; that won an Oscar.
The movie screening on Monday programmed by yours truly (with the half-hour pre-show) went pretty well, I’d say. One of the clips was hard to hear, but it was four seconds long so I don’t think too many people noticed.
Also Animal House (tho I think E_H already had one from there recently, Emil Faber, wasn’t it?), the Blues Brothers, Caddyshack.
Does Allen’s Manhattan qualify as a comedy? I think that was '79.
Anyone familiar with the ouevre of Neil Simon? I think he was working on some films in that period.
Oh, yeah, I dated Madame P. and our big movie was the rom-com The Goodbye Girl. But there was also Murder By Death and, I think, The Out-of-Towners.
And a couple of lesser Inspector Clouseau/Pink Panther movies.
All good guesses.
When did Tootsie come out?
Early 80’s, I think.
Steve Martin had The Jerk.
Bill Murray had Meatballs and maybe Stripes.
Gene Wilder & Richard Pryor had The Silver Streak.
George Burns had Oh, God and The Sunshine Boys.
I’m not coming up with a good guess, though.

George Burns had Oh, God and The Sunshine Boys.
I think he also had one with Art Carney and another older actor, about three senior citizens who rob a bank to put some excitement into their lives, around that time. But I’ll be darned if I remember any character names.
I think Stripes was '81.
What’s the possibility this could be an animated character?

That was Going In Style. I saw it, but wasn’t impressed.

That’s an idea. Wizards came out about that time. I don’t think anybody in that movie had a first and last name, though.
