David Sedaris is a frequent guest on NPR’s ‘This American Life’, as well as the author of several collections of humourous short stories and essays. In one of his stories, he tells of his father’s ambition that every one in the family should become a jazz musician - David goes off to study guitar, but what he really wants to do is sing jingles in a Billie Holiday voice. It was funny enough to read, but when I heard him tell the story in one of the podcasts, I nearly peed - it’s a bang-on impression!

Yes, David Sedaris is great! I’ve seen him live on stage three times, and don’t even read his books anymore - I always get his audiobooks, because his delivery is (more than) half the fun. You can hear him do his Billie Holiday impersonation (singing “Away in a Manger”) in the short story “SantaLand Diaries.”
