Three hours left for knoodler to ask his last DQ.
My best guess was Jean Passepartout, which is the inverse of the initials already established.
I’m not as familiar with the works of Kipling, so I will relinquish my last DQ.
Eagerly awaiting your “Firstname Lastname” DQs…
I’m comin’ up blank. Maybe I’m missing someone, but I can’t think of anyone from Kim, The Jungle Book or Captains Courageous who fits. Could be from one of his short stories, but I don’t know.
I only know Mowgli, Gunga Din and Rikki Tikki Tavi.
How does 24 more hours sound? 2230 EDT tomorrow, Sunday 23 March.
“One day more…”
May I guess, although I asked no IQs this round? Or perhaps someone would like to PM me, and I’ll suggest a name to them.
I was thinking briefly about the three soldiers he wrote some short stories about - but I can’t remember one of the soldiers’ names, and it’s not the other two (who were named Learoyd and Ortheris).
If I can yield my question to E_H I would gladly do so.
Well, I was given the opportunity to do that recently (though I had asked IQs, all of which were correctly answered), so go ahead, EH. I’m interested in hearing your theory.
Thank you!
Are you Peachy Carnahan (sp?) from Kipling’s The Man Who Would Be King?
Yes – played by Michael Caine in the film version. And here I thought I was going to get away with it…
I had it, you got it!
Thanks! My wife’s maiden name is spelled similarly to Peachy’s last name, and the former Kipling Theater in her hometown of Brattleboro, Vt. long displayed posters in the lobby of movies adapted from Kipling works (including TMWWBK).
His former American home is nearby, and beautifully maintained; I once spent a weekend there with some high school buddies: Naulakha (Rudyard Kipling House) - Wikipedia
Shall I start the next round?
I never read that one, but I did see the movie in the theater when it came out. Great story, well acted.
By all means, start the next round!
You’re a better poster than I am, Gunga Prof.–I’ve only read the Just So Stories and Kim.
You don’t have to if you don’t want to,but I’m sure the others will appreciate it if you do.
Righto!
