Botticelli October 2011

Did you kill a villain with 6 fingers?

Mel Gibson.
Mark Twain.
And correct as to Meredith Baxter-Birney from Family Ties.

From the answers given so far, I’m stumped. I guess we just have one more DQ. Anyone can use mine, if you wish.

I am not Inigo Montoya, you didn’t kill my father, don’t prepare to die.

I have a full weekend of Halloween activities planned. My internet access will be sporadic until Sunday night. There’s still one DQ left.

IQ: Did you have a career as an Irish tenor in Japan before becoming a long-time regular on a children’s show?

I have no idea. DQ for you.

Bob McGrath of Sesame Street, who appeared (along with two impostors) on To Tell the Truth and sang “Danny Boy” in Japanese (which he had learned phonetically) a few years before the Children’s Television Workshop came calling.

DQ: Is your creator Japanese?

No.

And that’s 20. I count about 3 outstanding DQs that can be used as “Are you ___” type questions.

It appears my experiment with “hiding in plain sight” is working. Even though my character is very well-known, the usual lines of questioning would either not lead to me or would be interpreted in a misleading way.

Final recap:
M

  1. Not a real person
  2. Male
  3. Not American
  4. Living in 2011
  5. First name does not start with M
  6. Known primarily as a TV or movie character
  7. Not a character from a TV series
  8. Usually played by flesh and blood actor, but has also been an animated character
  9. Science fiction/fantasy element to my character
  10. Role comic in nature
  11. In movie which came out since 1980
  12. Did not appear in comic book or graphic novel before appearing in a movie
  13. Not the star of the movie I was in, but have been the central character of other appearances
  14. Not alien, non-human, or superhuman in any way
  15. In movie primarily intended for kids.
  16. Movie did not come out after 1995
  17. Not created by a European
  18. Played by more than one actor as flesh-and-blood character
  19. Not a father in any of my appearances
  20. Creator is not Japanese

Still stumped. Hmmm. So now we each get to ask one “Are you [actual name]?” question, right?

Inigo Montoya WAS my only guess. I got nuthin’. (Again.)

(Side talk) Someone Halloweenish? It isn’t Jason Voorhees or Freddie Kreuger. Anyone else like that?

ETA–I guess they are’nt particular comic, or for kids, really. Well, I’ll try to think a bit more.

This probably doesn’t really fit everything, but it’s all I’ve got and I do want to avail myself of my hard-earned right to guess, so here is my DQ. Are you Mr. Miyagi?

I didn’t play this game, but I’ll toss an idea out to y’all - could it be a character from Harry Potter?

JK Rowling is European, and all the Harry Potter movies came out after 1995.

Ah. I didn’t know she was European. Not a big fan, as you can see.

Ooo… ooo… are you Machete? I think he first appeared in the Spy Kids movie.

No

No

I believe astorian still has 2 DQs left.

Aw, crap. Well, that was my best shot.

Anyone else? I thought there were 1 or 2 more “Are you _____”? types still unasked.

I’ll check back in today after 5:00 Pacific Time and reveal the answer at that time, if there are no more attempts.

Well, it appears that hiding in plain sight can work. The question “Are you known primarily as either a TV or movie character?” was affirmative, the question “Are you a character from a TV series?” was negative, which mislead everyone into focusing on the movie I was in, even though my appearance was a glorified cameo/egregious piece of product placement.
For while I was not in a TV series, I have appeared in hundreds, if not thousands, of TV *commercials *in the past 40 years, for I am …

Ronald McDonald

Supposedly one of the most recognized fictional characters in the world. Certainly better known than the naked-chick-on-a-clam-shell guy.

The movie I was in was the infamous E.T. rip-off Mac and Me, which
features the YouTube-favorite scene where the main character and his alien buddy eat at McDonald’s, only to be stuck in the middle of a dance-off featuring me.

And while I am an American creation, I am an inhabitant of McDonaldLand, not America, although I do spend a lot of time there clogging kids’ arteries. Have some magical powers (the fantasy element) and as for being a comic role, hey, I’m a goddamn clown.
