Since people are pretty close to stumped, let me expand a little on one of the DQ answers.
Enginerd:
I am not noted for my creation of motion pictures or television.
This does not necessarily mean that none of my works have been made into movies or TV shows; it means only that I was not extensively involved in the process. There may (or may not ;)) be a huge number of films based on my works. I didn’t intend for the answer to be misleading, but I can see how it may have been, and I apologize for that.

Did a TV series loosely based on your most famous character just have its finale?
My best guess is Arthur Conan Doyle, with House based on Sherlock Holmes. If you’re thinking of a writer whose name begins with E, take a DQ.

I keep forgetting the fraking letter! :smack: I was going for Doyle.

Come on, dude.
I guess I’ll bow out of the game then!
Look, it’s great to have more players and nobody wants you to bow out of the game. But if you’re going to play, you need to pay enough attention that you’re not making it harder for the other people in the thread.
I hope you stick with it.

How is merely answering the (misguided) IQ making it “harder”?
IQ: Are you the author of ‘Get Shorty’ and ‘Tishomingo Blues’?
It’s kind of frustrating to rack your brain trying to think of somebody when you can’t possibly come up with the right answer within the parameters of the game.
Elendil_s_Heir:
Edward Albee wrote Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? , about the disputatious George and Martha.
Yes to both Edward Everett and Egil Krogh. Well done!
Hmmm. Lemme think about my DQ. For now I’m stumped.
Well, I guess this is our last DQ. I yield it to whoever would like to ask it. Still stumped otherwise.
With your permission, Elendil’s Heir -
DQ: Are you also known for your short stories?

DQ: Are you also known for your short stories?
Much of my work was published as serials, so close to, but not exactly, short stories.

Dang! Maybe I should have asked something like ‘what kind of movies got made from your books?’.
I give up - this one’s got me thoroughly baffled, despite that feeling that it must be someone I know that I just can’t think of right now.
Spoilered, because it may be too big a hint - proceed at your own discretion.
One recent big-budget film based on my work was supposed to be a summer blockbuster, but was released a little early to mixed critical reviews and disappointing ticket sales.

Does the movie’s title rank as one of the worst/most misleading of all time?
I have it, with the hint (for which I thank you):
IQ:
Did the movie have a two-word title which was a man’s name?
