I was actually going for Johnny LaRue from SCTV (one of John Candy’s characters). But if Jack LaLanne smoked, I’ll defer.
Did you once make your living dancing around in your undies for Benny Hill?
Jon Lewis.
DQ: 1979-1988?
IQ: Are you a BBC TV producer who regularly collaborated with Douglas Adams?
I was just guessing. Ask your DQ. I have no clue about the Benny Hill question, so ask a DQ for that, too.
Dead Cat, you got me on the BBC question; ask a DQ.
JL:
- is not alive
[omitted stuff in the middle] - is in a Hugo Award-winning novel or story
- first appeared in 1958-98 inclusive
- does not appear in a Nebula Award-winning novel or story
- did not first appear 1958-78 inclusive
- was not created by David Brin or Dan Simmons
- did not first appear 1979-88 inclusive
Were you first NFL player to reach 14,000 receiving yards?
Hmmmm. Dunno. Ask a DQ.
James Lofton
Can I get a clarification on a previous DQ? “Has your character occurred in a Hugo or Nebula winning story or novel?”
When you answered, was novel used in the strict sense as in talking specifically about the “Hugo Award for Best Novel” or in a generic sense that could refer to any of the Hugo awards (i.e. novella, novellette, short story, etc.)
The question was about a “story or novel,” which to me covers just about any written work, and I answered it accordingly.
Did your character appear in a book which won the “Hugo Award for Best Novel”?
Yes.

OOOPS!
My mistake. The answer is actually “no.” I beg your pardon.

Were you a grandaddy at age 23?
ETA: Damn, I was glad to see that I actually made some progress. I don’t read sci-fi so I’m just fishing for clues.
Jane Leeves, of “Frasier,” got her start in show biz as one of Hill’s Angels, on “The Benny Hill Show.”
My two DQs:
-
Did you first appear in a novel or story in the past 10 years?
-
Were you created by Vernor Vinge or RObert CHalres Wilson?
Which is right and proper, IMO. Who ever started people thinking that a question like that wasn’t majorly gaming the system?
Okay, if I’m cheating, drop my either/or question- replace it with:
“Was your Hugo award in the category of Best Novella”?
Kid_A, I don’t know who that granddaddy was. Ask a DQ.

Are you a knight of Westeros?
You got me!
I am, indeed, Jaime Lannister, a knight of Westeros and deeply flawed (but perhaps not unredeemable) antihero of the first order, from George R.R. Martin’s wonderful A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series.
For those who don’t know Jaime, here be spoilers (about halfway down the page):
Good job, astorian. How long have you suspected it was Ser Jaime? What tipped you off?
Thanks, everyone, for playing!
For your consideration, here are some pictures of Jaime:

That was the toughest one yet, I believe. Good show, Elendil’s Heir and astorian!
For completeness, my last IQ referred to John Lloyd.
