Correct on Hardy and Lopez Obrador. 2. was Álvaro Obregón Salido, a Mexican Revolution general who was president from 1920 to 1924, then re-elected in 1928, but assassinated before he could take office.

DQ: Created after 1980?

We already have “not Asian” and “Created before 1950” so @kitap and @Slow_Moving_Vehicle still have another DQ each.

Nitpick: That was Snaps Provolone. Oscar was the man who appeared at the very end of the movie, interrupting the wedding.

Ah, thanks. It’s been years.

I guess it’s time for the “Are you Firstname Lastname” questions, though I would still accept the final DQs from @kitap and @Slow_Moving_Vehicle .

Let’s try and wrap it up by midnight EDT tonight.

Not ringing any bells for me.

Okay, last DQ: Surname begins A - G?

This ended up being a lot tougher than I thought it would be.

I suppose I should note that my answer to #14 is best expressed as “in a codex-format book, not a comic book” in case there was any confusion.

Well, I certainly have no idea who this is.

Let’s think: A male semi-protagonist from an SF story of the 20s, 30s or 40s. Appeared once in media, but not in a movie (which could be TV, radio or theater). First name O, last name H-M. We don’t know the origin of the Author, but the character’s African, Australian, Oceanic or from a SF country. One of a group of characters. May be from a novel, a short story, or one of John Campbell’s magazines.

Notable SF authors of the period are H. G. Wells, E. E. Doc Smith, Asimov, Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, Edgar Rice Burroughs, C. S. Lewis, H. P. Lovecraft, and on and on.

I’ll probably kick myself when the name’s revealed.

Or Canadian, Mexican, from Central or South America, or from the Caribbean.

I’m drawing a blank.

I’ll offer one other clue: just because someone is human does not mean they are from Earth.

Okay, last DQ: author is,male?

I may have inadvertently created a red herring.

#11, appeared once in media - I took this to mean appeared only once in prose fiction, which I see from @Prof.Pepperwinkle was the wrong way to take that DQ. So, to be clear - character is in a book, has not appeared in any other performing or written art media, no comic books, dramatic portrayal, or any such thing. (My bad for incorrectly apprehending the question.)

Also - I’ll be out of town and out of reach from early tomorrow to mid-Saturday, so if I go radio silent for a bit, preparations may have consumed what time I have.

I posed the question (#11) with the intent to establish that the character was not part of a franchise or series, e.g., James Bond, but a single novel or movie, e.g., Jay Gatsby. “Media” is a blanket term to include all forms of communication: book, movie, play, television, painting, music, poetry, oral history, etc.

There is probably a better way of succinctly expressing this. In the future, I may ask “Are you from a book?” “Is this part of a series or franchise?”
