The bottom line on all this political stuff is that Republicans/conservatives are willing to defend (seemingly “to the death”) an administration that is chock full of criminals and low-lifes (“Deplorables,” if you will) and that is “led” by an utterly contemptible “person” whom just about EVERYbody KNOWS is not fit to run a 7-Eleven, let alone be the “leader” of a country. To me this just shows how far down this country has fallen. It’s quite sad, really, even if conservatives/Republicans haven’t the slightest clue as to what is REALLY happening and maybe more importantly, couldn’t care less (as long as they’re getting what they want out of the whole situation. They think).
I would’ve used “skid mark” or “shit stain”.
Really breaking new territory on the OP, there, aincha?

I’ve heard the term “ambulatory herpes blister” recently.
What’s mind-blowing is how genuinely unintelligent and uneducated so many of the elected officials seem to be. Not that being intelligent and educated are necessarily indicative of basic decency, but having a firm grasp of reality seems important in a role defined by creating laws, and to some extent holding people accountable for their actions.
Yeah, well - I just felt like venting, a little.
You’re wrong. Not about Republicans willing to put up with, or how contemptible Trump is, but when you posit that Republicans know he’s not fit to run anything. Trump has a massively high approval rating among Republicans, and it even went up more AFTER we got actual evidence of his obstruction of justice. This isn’t the case where the Republicans tolerate him, they love him and want him. They want to gut regulations on business. They want to gut the State Department, the National Parks, the EPA, and most other governmental oversight. They want to pack the courts with clearly partisan hacks. They want the tax breaks, the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer, and a complete lack of oversight on any position of power that they control. They don’t know he’s unfit, hell, they love the job he’s doing.
I’m not sure Republicans love the man, but they love what he represents. They love that he’s taking a wrecking ball to political norms, and yes, allowing the rich and powerful to become even more so.
Out of everything you posted, the most devastating consequence of the Trump administration - at least from what we can see now - will be his impact on the judiciary. The judicial branch of government is going to be loaded with right wing ideologues, and that will have consequences when a progressive government finally takes control. I would almost submit that it could get so bad that Democrats might be forced to make judicial packing and impeachment a campaign platform. Maybe not in 2020, but perhaps in 2024.
Maybe the Second Amendment people, I don’t know…
Fine. “Everybody ‘outside of his “base”’ knows he’s unfit to run a 7-Eleven…”
So this required a whole new thread? There are like 20 others on the first page of the Pit, that your OP could have fit relatively easily into.
I’m pretty sure they ALL know he’s unfit. They just don’t care- he’s not doing anything with his antics that actually affect anything they care about negatively.
I mean, if I sit down and think about ways that Trump’s presidency has affected me negatively, I only come up with abstract stuff. In a financial sense, most of what he has done has been positive, and socially most of it doesn’t actually affect me, being a middle-aged white man in the suburbs. I’m much more irritated with my state legislature than the President as far as actual personal effects are concerned.
But in the abstract, what worries me about Trump is the erosion and degradation of our governmental norms and practices, and the general attitude that he and the Republicans are professing. I really dislike having to explain to my kids why the President seems like such an ass, or why he’s locking up children, or a myriad of other things on the news that they ask questions about. And I don’t like the idea that any of this is the new normal- I don’t like the idea of the office becoming a popularity contest/reality show.
Bottom lines are what happens when one sits naked on the corduroy couch…
Nah. It just shows that you had a misperception of the country.
What I think about when it comes to his is how we, in this country, could’ve put in the W.H. a person so uneducated, so coarse, so unethical, so petulant, so petty, and so ignorant. The fact that we did would have the Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves. Sure, job numbers and that sort of thing look pretty good right now (if one doesn’t look at them too closely) but that just convinces me (and I already didn’t need much convincing) that the president has very little (if anything) to do with any of that because the “president” we have now is a complete nincompoop with absolutely no idea how ANYthing works - so how could anything he’s done possibly have any positive effect(s) on any outcomes? By chance? Through luck? 'Cause it certainly is NOT because he has any idea what he is doing!
My “perception” is that the Republican Party is absolutely going to hell in a hand-basket with having first nominated “Dubya” for president and now this idiot (I don’t know how many times I told my wife, after “Dubya” left office, that “I hope we never see a person as stupid as ‘Dubya’ in the W.H., again, for as long as we live.” And then Republicans went and did it to us again, only this time even worse). As I’ve asked in a separate thread, what are Republicans going to come up with as their next presidential candidate after Mango Mussolini leaves office (willingly or not. Most likely “not.”)? I don’t even want to think about it.
Which really doesn’t say much for the direction the Republican Party is headed, now, does it? (at least not to any of us with working BRAINS and a large dose of COMMON SENSE)
You don’t have to bother thinking about it. He’ll be worse.
Oh fuck off, you racist piece of shit.
