Aw, I think y’all are being hard on old Qubey. Why, I’ll bet his best friend is black-- well, maybe not *best *friend, but they’re real close. And when they’re horsing around, calling each other the n-word, they both make sure it’s with an “a” and not an “er.” “A” is acceptable, but “er” is *never *cool. His best black friend told him that, I’ll bet. Only sometimes, when his best black friend starts acting black and stupid, Qubey lets an “er” slip out, but it’s always on accident. And when his black friend calls him out on it, Qubey clarifies that he said it with an “a.” No need to upset the guy, after all; they’re friends.
Eh, about time is right. I lost all respect for him when I found out about the “Are We There Yet?” TV show.
Huh. Here I was, thinking he was a recent join. But he’s been here for more than a year. Was he just not saying anything before then, that he wasn’t on anyone’s radar?
I never feel like my ignorance has been reduced when I read freep-ish stuff, just shifted.
ETA: And does anyone else mentally pronounce his username as “ice kwube”? It makes me laugh every time.
What’s wrong with being a homosexual Muslim?
No fucking way. Michele is so hot she scorches footprints in the sidewalk when she barefoots. She could make Sir Elton straight, a dead man come, heal the sick, raise the dead. I bet half the hatred for Obama is heartsick envy. All of mine is…
I don’t know why the fact that dopers are so painfully easy to troll annoys me more than the trolls themselves. I think it’s because trolls gonna troll and if you cut one down two shall rise to take its place. On the other hand most regulars in this place are reasonably intelligent and it pains me to see them fall for such obvious psychological manipulation. The first time trolls show up, they should get a little attention, in case there is more there than meets the eye. But once their game becomes obvious, why pay attention? Why respond at all, let alone grant their biggest wish by starting a pit thread in their honor?
It’s the symbiotic nature of the Internet. Without anger and mocking of a troll…well, it just ain’t natural.
I think there’s something against it in the Koran or the Hadith.
Poe’s Law.
Some posters aren’t trolls but are hardly distinguishable from them. I guess you’d fall on the side of “label 'em all trolls and let God sort them out”. Some of us give more benefit of the doubt than that.
Nah. Read that whole thread. The mask slips often enough.
I don’t base my allegation of trolling on his crazy beliefs, but instead on the posts like this one.
I get that. But in the case of the pitee, his posts are so completely deranged that if he isn’t trolling he’s too insane to reason with. It would be like trying to convince the crazy guy on the street corner that no, the CIA isn’t really controlling his thoughts through his dental fillings.
I’m pretty sure Iceqube is just trolling though.
Sure, he’s trolling, but really, the converse question is, why do you care what other posters do?
Each one has different reasons (boredom, “somebody on the internet is wrong”, posterity, whatever), but unless you are also reading the same threads past the point of no return, it doesn’t really affect you either way.
There’s a circle-jerkish feeling to having someone prance around as a fake racist while everyone condemns him.
But I’m ultimately ambivalent on whether we should care about banning trolls. I just think that if we’re going to do it–and we are, apparently–we should be consistent about it.
I freely acknowledge that my annoyance is kind of irrational, a pet peeve. However I think that by responding to trolls, especially offensive racist trolls like IQ, people inadvertently give them support and help them spread their message, sort of.
Troll. Obvious troll. I have nothing against the man, but he married the female version of Patrick Ewing.
And she believes in the right to bare arms. ![]()
I was following right along as part of the audience until the ‘countess’ reference came along. I’m not confused by the homosexual Muslim thing, but who is the countess.
Who? What? Countess?
Does she run the Illuminati or something?
[QUOTE=IceQube]
No, it’s not doing nothing. It’s repealing the federal overreach and letting states decide what to do with their uninsured citizens. Obamacare has the fig leaf of federalism. Let’s take our founding philosophy a little further than this socialized catastrophe of medicine that only a black person could have “thought” of.

There is absolutely NOTHING even REMOTELY black about Mitt Romney.
She’s the gypsy? The acid queen?
