Bow Down: It's Poker Time! SDMB Poker 2nd Q '08

I was crushing a PStars 300 play money buyin SNG (I had something like 6500 chips, the next largest had something like 2000) when my ISP crapped out for the remainder of the tournament. :frowning:

I requested a hand history and found out that my bot finished in the money at third.

If anyone wants to assist in staving off the poker withdrawl I will be experiencing, please join me playing some SnG’s tonight. I’ll be on around 930 CST.

I watched MissTake bust out of a tournament, then we played one. I was totally card dead through about 6 levels. Finally I began to hit some playable hands. I took out Missy, but a schmuck was along for the ride, so I got his chips. The cards started to hit me to where I could make some plays. Long story short, after a pretty much clash of the titans battle heads-up, I ended up winning for $0.45.

I didn’t see our weekly game in the lineup so I created a second one. Can everybody sign up as usual?

What I meant is, is anybody seeing 2 games, or just the one I created?

I’ll have AIM on all night in case there are problems.

Yeah. I’d laugh if it weren’t for the stabbing pains behind the eyeballs, between the ears, etc. I played medium pairs all night hoping for the miracle flop…

The standings with two games left to advance:

1 Miss Take 65.7
2 Yeticus Rex 65.5
3 Dag Otto 64.3
4 Oslo Ostragoth 56.9
5 Duke of Rat 56.6
6 Robot Arm 54.7

8 Asterion 45.4

Yeti debuts with a very impressive second place.

That was pretty sweet.

yeah.
effer.

Sorry to bring up a painful memory, Oslo, but that was quite a hand.

The microgame afterwards was productive as well…Dag and I beat up 8 other schleps and finished 1st and 2nd.

Yeah, I got my revenge!

Nice.

How can I play?

Excuse me popping in, but I am going to enter my first Texas Hold’em tournament when I visit Las Vegas in July (2 weeks away). It’ll only cost me the entry fee and I’m really looking ofrward to the experience.
It will be a casino game, probably with 20 or so entrants.

I’ve played a few practice games with a professional dealer, so I think I’ve got the hang of the blinds.

But presumably most tournaments have increases in the blinds as the event progresses?

Also I’ve only played limit hold-em live (I have a program which plays no-limit).

Is there a website to read up on (both rules and minimum raises etc?

Can I join one of your games? (unfortunately I’m in the UK on GMT=0, so there may be time zone problems).

What are the common mistakes beginners make? (both betting and etiquette)

Thanks!

We play at a Microgaming site. Many of us use Crazy Poker, but I think you can join our game from any of the sites listed. Once you do that, let us know and we’ll give you the password to the private game and how to find it. Since we have funding issues due to the law, we keep it cheap with 11 cent buy-in game. It’s about bragging rights, not money. Also, an AIM account is useful, we chat while we play.

Oh yeah, the game is on Thursday nights at 2200 (eastern US time zone).

Let us know if you get an account set up.

Not a problem. “Quite” is a bit of an understatement.

Funding is a serious problem. Try signing up through Doyle’s Room - some people say that you can fund MicroGaming sites through there. And our game should be visible there.

Yes, usually every 15 or 20 minutes, an audible timer will go off and every hand dealt afterwards is subject to the new blinds.

Many Many Many.

Yikes…3:00 am local time for you! You are more than welcome though if you can tough it out.

String bets
Also, similar to that, forward motion is usually observed at all B&Ms.

Here’s a list.
