Bowl Championship Series

I’ve been looking for several days for the text of the BCS rules. Espn just has snippets, and they never link or give a source. Can anyone find a .pdf or online transcript of this year’s BCS rules? It’s killing me!

Here ya go. The system is administered by the National Football Foundation.

Thanks, Elvis. However, that’s not quite what I’m looking for. I’m looking for eligibility requirements, the Big East rule, the Notre Dame clause, etc. FedEx had it posted a few years ago when the Orange Bowl was the NC game, but Tostidos hasn’t followed suit this year.

Well, this is certainly turning out to be a Google challenge.

Is this it?

If so, then the winning search string combination was “ncaa championship bowl regulations” and the secret word seems to be “regulations” rather than “rules”.

If not, then I’m stumped. It’s possible it’s not online.

If it’s that big, it’s possible nobody has ever scanned it into PDF format.

Bad news, DDG. That top link is the regulations for all championship tournaments except Division I football.

I think the official BCS rulebook is something that isn’t available online. Most likely, it’s too big. It’s more of a legal document and that’s probably why it’s kept under fairly close wraps. There are likely sections in it involving finances and payments for TV contracts.

I would think that if you called up a public university near you that the athletic department would have a copy and they probably would have to let you look at it. You could try an FOIA request.

Or you could just contact a sportswriter who covers college sports.
