I usually wouldn’t start two boxing threads in two weeks, but this had to be mentioned:
Boxer Diego Corrales dies in motorcycle crash in Las Vegas
He leaves behind several children and a wife who is seven months pregnant, who had to identify him at the scene. That’s terrible.
Yeesh, that’s harsh. Motorcycle riding Dopers, be sure to always stay safe out there.

Corrales gave us boxing fans some great memories. He also seemed like a very nice guy. I was shocked to hear that he died. He’ll be missed.

He was a pretty good fighter.
At one time, he was 5’10", and fighting at 130.
He had trouble making weight in later fights, even at higher weights.
Wow. Pretty skinny - did he have any power?

Plenty.
Like any sport (golf, baseball, tennis), rotation – more than strength – is a major contributor to boxing power. He has that in spades.
His signature fight was against Jose Luis Castillo at 135. He went down twice, and then knocked Castillo out, so he even had power at 135.
Also, he knocked Acelino Freitas down 3 times at 135 before Freitas quit.
Thanks, I wasn’t sure if I should drive safe or not!
