Boycott the Cubs!!!

But he wouldn’t. The only reason any voters ever give a rat’s ass about Wright is because he triggers their OMG WHITEY-HATING N-WORD reflex and they project that response onto Obama because OMG ALL THOSE N-WORDS ARE ALIKE. Jeremiah Wright is the race card.

In any case, recent updates indicate that Ricketts isn’t planning to run those anti-Obama ads, so we can all relax and resume our previous policies in re: supporting the Cubs.

Ok fine. I don’t possess your ability to look into the mind of Ricketts and every single voter who doesn’t like Obama. I defer to your magical powers.

But remember, we are not talking here about “every single voter who doesn’t like Obama”. We are talking about those particular voters whom certain Republican strategists feel confident of being able to turn against Obama merely by shouting OMG LOOK AT THIS WHITEY-HATING N-WORD JEREMIAH WRIGHT.

Those are the voters whom Euphonious Polemic not unreasonably suspects of having more issues with the color of Obama’s skin than with the details of his policies.

Sorry, blinkie.

No matter who you are, it was a pretty lame comment on my part. I couldn’t even think of a good cheap shot to take at the Cubs instead.

Fairly sure they have Thomas Sowell in mind. I don’t like the guy, but he just about matches the description. Not everyone has as good a memory of the party of Lee Atwell, nor of which side was arguing for international solidarity.

The Cubs here do stuff like tying reefknots and cooking sausages on a campfire.

I’m sorry you see a need for those practices to be boycotted. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is great news. Rickett’s anti-governmental spending stance must certainly mean that he won’t be taking any of the City of Chicago’s money to help him renovate Wrigley Field. I’m absolutely positive he will pay for the entire renovation himself, because the out of control governmental spending he so loudly decries includes spending for already really rich white guys who need more money to build their privately owned real estate. No way he’ll be that huge of a hypocrite. Right?

Thing is, those that won’t vote for Obama strictly because he is black already know he is black. And they are not likely to forget it. No commercial of any kind is likely to change that one way or another.

It’s not hypocritical for a person against out-of-control government spending to take government money.

It’s not hypocritical to take governmental spending on the same level as other people. I don’t expect people who decry governmental spending to stop using roads, not send their children to public school, use the police, or not buy their own army. Those are things the government provides for all its citizens.

But to get $150 million or so in tax breaks/amusement tax money to renovate your private real estate while screaming that the government spends too much? Yeah, that’s the first mansion on the left of Hypocritical Street.

Right, because it’s not the money the government is giving ME that’s bad, the problem is the money the government is giving everyone else.

[Hijack] Just by coincidence, last night’s Simpsons rerun on the Chicago Fox station was the episode where Homer boycotts the minor league Springfield Isotopes team when he learns they’re secretly making plans to move the team to Albuquerque.

Eh, you gotta play the hand you’re dealt. I wouldn’t call someone a hypocrit for advocating higher taxes an yet not electing to pay more taxes than what is required of them.

I think taxes should be higher and government spending should be lower. But I just pay what is owed, and I drive on public roads, go to public libraries, etc. I don’t see a problem here.

Can everybody just bookmark this reply so that whenever somebody foolish might start listening to Rand Rover we can just point them this way?

No need for an apology Thudlow Boink you had no way of knowing, for all you knew I could be a pretend lawyer devoid of a moral compass like Rand Rover.

Pulykamell a tetra is a quadraplegic with an additional handicap. In my case I can’t speak.

Loach, of course I know of George’s poltical views but I’m unaware of him dropping $10 million on a SwiftBoat effort. Tell me about it and I’ll burn every piece of Yankee stuff I own. The way they’re playing might do that anyway.

Koeeoaddi, how’s your bro doing?

Silenus, fortunately no such bookmarking is necessary in your case because just about any of your posts are sufficient to alert readers to who they are dealing with.

Blinkie, I’m not bothered by your charge that I lack a moral compass. In fact, I wear disdain from the likes of you as a badge of honor.

So you hate tetraplegics too?

Reported the OP as a potential fair use violation.

Who’s giving money or even paying attention to the Cubs anyway? What’s today? 5/18. Have they been eliminated yet? I don’t know how to explain the math, but I understand MLB could continue forever, infinitely, across all possible universes, and the Cubs still won’t win the series. A bet on the Washington Generals would pay off better.

And I am quite proud of that fact. I am obviously a joker. You are obviously a joke.
