G.O.P. ‘Super PAC’ Weighs Hard-Line Attack on Obama

A campaign playbook by high-profile Republican strategists.

WASHINGTON — A group of high-profile Republican strategists is working with a conservative billionaire on a proposal to mount one of the most provocative campaigns of the “super PAC” era and attack President Obama in ways that Republicans have so far shied away from.

I’m busy boycotting inappropriate apostrophes.

Does linking Obama with Wright have any value anymore? They tried this four years ago, nobody seemed to care, and we’ve only had 4 years since which confirm that, no, Obama is not a crazy white-hating communist.

You get a free pass this time, because I doubt everyone knows this, but **Blinkie **has a good reason to type inaccurately: he has locked-in syndrome. It’s like extreme quadriplegia, he can’t move anything except his eyes. So, he types exclusively through eye movement. It’s a laborious process, and it’s frankly miraculous that he’s even able to communicate at all. I think **Blinkie’s **post about LIS is the reason I joined the Dope in the first place, which is why I know this.

Anyway, criticize the message if you like, but don’t shit on his grammar.

Good luck with finding someone who can successfully argue that point.

Warning, gratuitious snark ahead

I actually think they’ll stall at getting someone with the first three descriptors (extremely literate conservative)

And “metrosexual”? Does anyone even use that term anymore?

You know, Blinkie, you could post about watching grass grow and I’d be happy to read it. I just love when you post.

Yes I’m sure that will make him lose 10s of dollars.

Thanks for the tip of the hat, but I 'm not a quadriplegic. I’m one better, I’m a tetraplegic.

It might not make much of a difference, but as an avid NY fan if one of our owners pulled this kind of crap, he certainly would hear it from the fans.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what’s the difference between the two?

Yeah, as each passing day goes by, I am less and less happy to be a Cubs fan. I’d really love to give it up, and I curse WGN for indoctrinating me into the Cubs, but I’m diseased with Cub fandom, and there’s no cure. I could not follow another baseball team with any sincerity.

I’m sure Mr. Ricketts must disagree with something Barack Hussein  Obama has done during the past four years. So I wonder why his people are focusing their energy on addressing an issue that was dead and buried in 2008 instead?

I think he might be one of that group of people who still cannot believe that 2008 happened. They just cannot fathom that they have a president whose complexion is dark-ish.

They figure that people must not actually know that they voted for a darkie. So they figure (in their tiny little minds) that if they ONLY LET FOLKS KNOW that Obama is a black man, then they won’t vote for him. It’s all so simple in their minds. He must have fooled people into thinking he was white. That’s the only possible explanation for them.

Right, because everyone who doesn’t like Obama doesn’t like Obama because Obama is black. I thought we buried that back in 2008. Guess you guys haven’t thought of anything better (probably could have ended this sentence after the fifth word).

Dude the guy owns the Cubs.

Let me repeat that - he owns the CUBS!

Plenty of karma in this guys future.

He’s not just a Cubs fan, he’s the owner. That’s gonna be punishment enough.

Ever heard of George Steinbrenner? New York fans wouldn’t care either.

Well, the people who don’t like Obama for reasons other than that Obama is black don’t usually devote their criticisms to beating the drum about his race.

If Ricketts were orchestrating a political ad campaign based on factually and responsibly pointing out why he thinks a Romney presidency would be, say, more effective in the war in Afghanistan or better for international relations in general or more conducive to domestic prosperity, then I doubt even the most rabid Obama fans around here would be suggesting that his baseball team should be boycotted.

But if Ricketts deliberately chooses to make his pitch all about the theme OMG OBAMA IS A COMMIE-LOVING WHITEY-HATING N-WORD, then yeah, people are naturally going to assume either that Ricketts is personally bothered by Obama’s race or that Ricketts is counting on a lot of his fellow Republicans’ being personally bothered by Obama’s race.

If that upsets you, take it up with Mr. Ricketts. He’s the one who played the race card in this particular discussion.

I’m way ahead of you. I’ve been boycotting the Cubs for better than 50 years.

When did you stop beating black people?

(I kid! You never did.)

((I kid again!))

Wrong. The commercials (at least as currently described) are lambasting Obama because of his ties to Jeremiah Wright. If Obama were white, Rickets could run exactly the same commercials.

This! Hiya blinkie!
