I’m not a huge fan, but sad nonetheless.

That’s terrible news. I’m sad to see him go.

Here’s an anecdote about Brad: when Tom Scholz was recording the demos for the album that would win them a contract with CBS, Brad sang all the vocals. When they got the contract, they went back into the studio and remade the album. Brad re-sang all those parts not only note-for-note but nuance for nuance. You are only barely able to tell that the demo is a different performance from the album. He was a master of singing exacting multitracked leads and harmonies with himself, much the way Brian Wilson was. He had an obscenely high voice for a man, but did he ever know how to use it!

I closed my eyes, and he slipped away…

RIP, Brad. Your voice has a place in my heart, always.

The airwaves will be full of Boston for the next few days.

I’ve read some pretty harsh Delp-bashing now and then. Probably written by people not born when that first album came out. Huge at the time!

Good lord! He looks like Rob Zombie!

Oh no. That’s just sad.

(Didn’t another member of Boston die quite young some years ago? Goodreau?)

RIP Brad. You will be missed.

My kids grew up on Boston’s music, and I still listen from time to time. Their first album has to be one of the all-time megahits. By all accounts, Boston was one of the best touring bands ever.

I was very upset when I heard. I did have the good fortune of making it to his last appearance, at the Red, White and Blue Award ceremony last November for Doug Flutie. He sounded as great as ever.

RIP Brad.

A sad day indeed. His voice was one of the greats in classic rock.

Time to get out the Guitar Hero and play More Than a Feeling.

Brad Delp’s family recently announced his death was a suicide:

Oh, my God. That is sad. I knew about his death and was saddened by it, but I can’t begin to imagine what demons would compel him to take his life. I’m speechless.

Oh no! My first thought was, “Didn’t he know that we still ‘loved’ him?”, and then I read that he was actually engaged to be married. So he had love… Why, Brad?
