Well, my pride and joy of my cd collection is that I have every Insane Clown Posse cd with the exception of “A Carnival Christmas”, as well as every Black Label Society, Rammstein, Korn and Cake cd there is. My most recent purchase is The Prodigy - Fat of the Land
I have a lot more than that, but a complete listing would be ridiculous.
Psychopachik Vampire
Fiona Apple - “When the Pawn…”
Much better than Tidal! This cd makes Fiona my Angsty Female Singer of choice.
Christina Aguilera - “Stripped”
Pop music, but much better than Britney’s offering
Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, & Ricky Skaggs - “The Three Pickers”
Great folk/country/bluegrass sample. Keeps me from giving up on the Shania Twain and “Have you Forgotten”-poisoned morass that is country music today.
Steve Burns - “Songs for Dustmites”
A really quirky CD, by the guy who used to be on Blue’s Clues.
I’m going to the store soon to try to get the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack - they were out of stock last I was there!
Dinosaur Jr. - Ear Bleeding Country: The Best of Dinosaur Jr.
J. Mascis is quickly becoming one of my favorite guitarists, besides, I can totally identify with his work ethic. Oh, and there’s a cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” on this disc that just fucking slays. Bargain bin gem.
Robert Pollard - Waved Out
There isn’t a sadder sight on God’s green earth than the wallet of a hardcore Guided By Vocies fan. In Bob we trust! Waved Out contains “Subspace Biographers,” one of the best GBV songs ever, and is therefore essential.
Belle & Sebastian - If You’re Feeling Sinister
This was a gift, I can assure you. These pussies make Morissey sound like Glenn Danzig. This reminds me, where the heck is my copy of Legacy of Brutality? Anybody want to trade?
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo’s Factory
Next to Raw Power, Marquee Moon, London Calling, Unknown Pleasures, Pink Flag and a couple of other punk classics, Cosmo’s Factory is in my top ten of favorite records from the 70’s. Another bargain bin gem.
Wire - 154
It’s Wire, so it’s pretty great, but still nowhere near the brilliance of Pink Flag and Chairs Missing. “Map Ref. 41°N 93°W” might be my favorite Wire track, though. My Bloody Valentine did a great cover version of this song.
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
I’m a 20-year-old white guy from Norway, the land of lutefisk and fjords, but on the inside I’m an angry black guy from Staten Island. Okay, maybe not, but I really have an affection for early 90’s east coast hip-hop. Raekwon-- next to Ghostface-- was always the most talented MC of the bloated Wu-Tang collective, and this is hands down the best solo album of that group. Also I could be wrong, but I think this is the record that started the ridiculous Scarface fetishism we see in hip-hop today.
