Bragging on my new motorcycle

Too cold to ride it, so I’ll write about it. My last bike got stolen last year. It was an ‘03 VFR 800, and truthfully,at 6’3” it wasn’t the most comfortable long distance ride. Enter the ‘15 Yamaha Super Tenere. This thing is a big bike and is relatively loaded with ABS,traction control, and what I love most: cruise control! Now if it would just warm up!

Hey, small world. I have an '04 VFR 800! I’m getting a little old for it, it starts to hurt my neck if I ride it for too long. A few years back a bought a CBR250 for commuting. At only 5’8" I love that little bike, epecially the 65 mpg. Despite the CBR moniker it’s a pretty upright/standard seating position so I can ride it all day.

Congrats. Not a fan of the adventure bikes myself, but hope you enjoy it. They do seem to work better for tall people as far as ergonomics.

Those are heavy machines, mind you so is the VFR.

Did you take a look at the Honda Crosstourer - they are not cheap but in the same sort of market.

Anyhow, enjoy your ride - they are way better made and finished compared to the original 660 version they did years ago

That’s great news, Mr Rich… should be a fun bike. Can/do you turn off the ABS and TC when you take it off-road, or are those programmed to work on *slippery *surfaces?

I looked at everything, but got laser focused on an S10 due to its reputed reliability and
I really wanted cruise control. Push button suspension adjustment and heated grips were the icing on the cake.

Traction control is turnoffable but ABS isn’t. There apparently are workarounds like pulling the fuse. Actually, except for gravel and dirt roads, I probably won’t be doing anything all that challenging. At least not until I get some decent crash bars!

Nice bike! I’m a little jealous. I’m 6’3" with a 36" inseam so I also need something I can stretch out on. I have an 08 Buell Uly which most find very tall but I can flat foot it. It’s pretty bare-bones but it does have heated grips which I will never go without on any future touring bikes. I would love to have cruise control! I’ve had simple throttle locks on previous bikes and even those can help on long touring days.On touring trips, my wife also rides with me so I need something comfortable for her too.

Which color?

Red. Here she is at probably the cleanest she’ll ever be:slight_smile:

Fantastic. Got me all nostalgic for my '96 and '00 VFRs, the yellow 2000 model holding one of the top spots in my all-time pantheon of bikes.

I had looked at an S10 when I replaced my Tiger 800XC. Ultimately decided now that I live in SoCal I wanted more road focus and went with a Multistrada, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think the S10 is great. If I still lived in Seattle and had access to all the fire roads I used to ride, I might have decided differently.

Picture link isn’t working, by the way.

Now try it. It’s worth it:)

Very nice. Now go get it filthy.
