I thinks that’s the crux of the problem right there. I won’t go so far as to say BrianGlutton is a one trick pony, and I don’t really have much of a problem with his post in the “stupid Republican idea of the day” thread, but too often his posts don’t have any content in them. They’re just a link to an article on another site. He needs to understand that the SDMB’s content is created by the posters themselves. Too often the guy is the fucking buzzfeed of posters.
A lot of posters don’t even read their own links, and they like the post <cite>, <cite>, <cite> as if it proves some point, and then they leave it up to other posters to point out that the cite does not support the claim made. In some cases, the cite will actually contradict the claim being made.
Again, I don’t have a problem with make a point/provide a link: in fact it’s good practice. Make a point/ link to a vid is another matter: no, you’re not going to make me waste my time like that. I can at least skim an article.

Where in my post did I say anything about fair use? I quoted a section of “Guidelines for posting”, which BG seems to ignore at … well, I’d be harder put to find an instance where his “accustomed style” doesn’t ignore it. You’re not trying to change the subject, move the yards marker, the goalposts, the batting cage for some reason are you?

Ok now my irony meter is acting up. I’ll just note for those who don’t want to click the link that “Guidelines for posting” is a list given immediately after a discussion of copyright. In other words, those guidelines are intended to help posters avoid copyright violations. They are not connected with posting etiquette or protecting the hyper-sensitive from content they deem disturbing.

Although you got your defense of BG in early in the thread, since then others have spoken and pretty well agreed that yes, this is something for which he is known. Whether or not it bothers them is split, generally-speaking not unless he does it as an OP.
Being basically an RSS feed is something known about BG, not only here but on other MBs in other lands, where he is routinely laughed at and mercilessly mocked. I trust he knows these things and is not bothered in the least by them. Do you know him personally? How are his nails looking? I’ve read speculation somewhere that “he” may be nothing more than some oddly disappointing spambot escaped into the wild from a chunky monkey’s slovenly coding.
