Forget wireless,brain-computer interface is the next sci-fi idea to come to life.
The interface is being developed for therapeutic use, but maybe one day we can have mental internet access. Having the SDMB beamed directly into my head could do wonders for the ol’ IQ. 
Wasn’t something similar done with monkeys a bit ago? Except I think the electrodes were implanted in the brain.

Yep, it was. I looked up the paper here at work (I’m at a University), but I wasn’t sure if a link would work. They connected the brains of two macque monkeys to a computer. The monkeys learned to move a cursor on a computer screen for a reward. If I understand it correctly, the monkeys where then trained to move a robotic arm for a reward.
Interesting stuff. The connection is just to pick up electric impulses in the brain, so the subjects are actually consciously adjusting their neuron firing. Those must be some really good monkey treats. (Oh, they used juice. Ok. Juice of what? I want some.)
What good would it be without an “Edit” function?
Not only Spam, but Viruses, Trojan Horses, and Worms, too. It’s be like Frederick Pohl’s the Merchant’s war. Or Stephen King’s the Cell.
Even without all the bad stuff, you’d be instantly downloading tons of unproven data, cites, and speculation, along with random trollwork. Even from the Dope Board. If you think you hate (fill in name of poster you find obnoxious)'s posts now, wait until you have them verbatim and in full inside your own head.
