Monster
Yeah, how dare you support Mazda.
{hangs head in shame}
I had exactly the same experience with Izod jeans. I started buying them about ten years ago, and they were fantastic; they fit well, lasted for years, and looked good.
Recently I bought a pair from Amazon, and was horrified when they arrived. The material was noticeably thinner and the stitching was crude. I checked some recent Amazon reviews (which I had stupidly neglected to do before my purchase—I already knew Izod jeans were awesome, so why read reviews?), and they reported the same impressions. Izod has evidently decided to cash in on years of accumulated brand loyalty by switching to a cheaper manufacturer (probably a third-world sweatshop).
I went through similar patterns of loyalty and betrayal with Reebok and Rockport shoes.
Heinz ketchup.
It won the taste test 50 years ago. Maybe there are better ones today, but ya better give me a free sample. I ain’t gonna buy it.
Toothpaste:
Dad (dead now over 40 years) liked Colgate toothpaste so that is all we ever had in the house. Actually he liked the powder, Mom got the paste for us kids. That’s all I’ve used, until a few years ago.
One day, in some dollar store, I saw some Pepsodent (which had great TV commercials when I was a kid) and I bought it because I thought it had ceased production. Nope, they just don’t advertise anymore.
I switched to Pepsodent as I think it’s fun to buy a ghost brand.
Soap:
Kirk’s Castile. Unfortunately I can no longer get it w/o buying online, and the descriptions make it seems different so I buy other brands but I don’t want to. Grrrrr.
None. I can’t tell the difference from one brand to the next or store brand.
I buy whatever is on sale or the best deal.
Hmmmm… I just thought of one item: President’s Choice extra spicy clamato is superior to even Motts.
Crap. One more Pace hot salsa is pretty much the best jarred salsa out there. Too bad no one in Canada sells it anymore.

Pepsodent, $1 per tube, is like the only toothpaste that doesn’t make me gag, so I’ve been using it for ages. Can’t say I have the best teeth, but I suspect that’s due to other reasons beyond my toothpaste choice (dry mouth from meds, etc.)
Hellman’s/Best Foods mayo is the only one worth getting.
I like Kindle tablets. They are pretty fragile, but cheap, and I know the layout, so I probably will never try anything else.
(Squeamish alert) I usually use a menstrual cup/diaphragm now, but on the rare times when I don’t feel like it, I use OB tampons. I see no reason to change. I haven’t seen any other brands that are smaller/shorter, and without an applicator, so why bother?
Also: Philadelphia cream cheese, though I can make a decent sub by draining plain Dannon yogurt. And, recently, Edmond Fallot Dijon mustard. OMG.
Gillette (preferably Good News Pivot Plus) is the only razor I’ve bought for many years. There may be a better one but I don’t want to waste money experimenting.
I’m a sucker for Heinz ketchup too. I have tried generics. They’re always watery.
I drink maybe one diet Dr. Pepper a week. I’ll pay the extra few pennies for the good stuff.
When candy corn season comes around I will only buy Brach’s.
Dawn dish soap.
Cascade.
Tide drier sheets.
V8
Louisianne (sp?) decaff iced tea.
Degree deodorant.
Addition to my list. Hellman’s mayo.
So who makes the good jeans now?
Husband has to have branded cereal. No way to store brand
I’d like to say Lake o Lakes butter but its most of the time too expensive so whatever is on sale whatever time of year I need it
Spreadable margarine used to be Country Crock but they changed the recipe so its whatever for the husband and I’m still in search of something that wont upset my stomach and I’ve cut way back on toast in the morning so…
Era, Arm and Hammer or Purex.
Gain dish detergent, select others cause my arms to become rashy
Quaker Oatmeal for the instant and whatever on the cook type
Brown sugar, brand but powdered sugar whatever and table sugar I like Pioneer but only when I can get it at a reasonable price
arm and hammer deodorant
crest toothpaste
Scott TP
Not a whole lot really. A lot of things are the same as store brand
oh and husband only wants the Nestle Semi Sweet chips for his cookies, I’ve tried store brand, its edible
I was wondering that too. I have been wearing wranglers for the last few years; but I have been looking to see if there’s something I might like more. I was considering going back to Levis, but now I’m not so sure. Anyone have any experience with Carhartt Jeans? That was another brand I was considering. I love their work shirts.
To answer the OPs question:
Carhartt work shirts and colored t shirts
Crest Toothpaste. Plane jane old fashioned toothpaste. My mom worked for a dentist ever since I can remember and it was always Crest. I’ve tried others and just don’t care for them.
I’m starting to become loyal to about anything I can find that is branded Kirkland (Costo’s store brand). I’ve never yet been disappointed by Kirkland.
