Brave Scott Brown Bravely Ran Away (from debate with Elizabeth Warren)

I just hope Warren stays in good health because I’m looking forward to her 2020 Presidential bid.

Obama to Nix Fox Debate

ABC News’ Jake Tapper Reports: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, will be the second Democratic presidential candidate to boycott a proposed debate to be broadcast by Fox News Channel.

“CNN seems to be a more appropriate host,” an Obama campaign aide tells ABC News.

===================================

Hmmmm. Using the left’s logic in this thread, I guess that decision demonstrated Obama’s cowardice. Or, in the words of the OP: “Bawwk! Bawk, bawk, baaaaaaaawwwwkkkkk!!!”.

Obama suggested an alternate venue. Did Brown?

Sure:

In response, the Brown campaign announced it would accept a televised media consortium debate proposal put forward by Warren. But Brown is also urging Warren to debate next week at an event hosted by Boston WBZ talk radio host Dan Rea.

“Scott Brown is accepting the debate invitation from the Boston media consortium,” Brown campaign manager Dan Rea said in a statement. “He will be at the first debate at WBZ radio on June 27, just seven days from now. We hope that Elizabeth Warren will stop dodging and join us next week so we can discuss the problem with her extremely liberal tax and spend policies and why they will kill jobs and further damage the economy.”

According to the scurrilous lefty site I offered above, Brown did appear at a debate in the same venue when he first ran for the office. If they are not making shit up, then what’s different now?

Terr? Dan Rea? Hosting the debate? “Scott Brown campaign manager Dan Rea…” Uh, what? Huh?

There are three (or is it four) debate venues that were suggested by Brown campaign (and some accepted by Warren). Thus to claim that Brown didn’t suggest other venues is incorrect.

Brown is just as much a coward here as Obama was when he didn’t want to debate at Fox.

Huh, Terr’s source article names Dan Rea as both proposed radio debate host and Brown campaign manager, which suggests one of the following:

-sloppy writing by the reporter;
-sloppy editing by the editor;
-blatant lunacy by the Brown campaign in proposing a debate hosted by one of their own guys;
-the name “Dan Rea” is surprisingly common in Massachusetts.

Assuming the proposed host is not actually also a campaign manager, and the name confusion is just somebody’s screwup, I have to admit I’m not seeing a right-wing radio host as a likely neutral moderator. As a condition for debate, I’d insist that it was possible to turn the moderator’s microphone off.

Both. Brown’s campaign manager’s name is Jim Barnett.

Per the article linked here, Mr. Brown’s campaign manager appears to be named Jim Barnett.

As i said to John Mace earlier, i don’t really blame Brown for avoiding the venue. My main problem was with him accepting the venue, but placing completely unreasonable conditions on his appearance.

It would be like Obama agreeing to a FOX debate, on the condition that no FOX commentators take any position on the upcoming election.

Then I add it was rather sloppy on your part to quote the article without proof-reading it.

I am not an editor.

In any case, Warren can impress Jon Stewart, which leaves me little doubt she can crush Brown.

You ignored this part of the piece.

If MSNBC had hyped and repeated allegations that Scott Brown had attended KKK rallies while growing up the comparison might be relevant, which they didn’t and if MSNBC had been the hosts of the Kennedy Center debate, which they weren’t, you’d have point, but since neither is true, you don’t.

A little harsh. If I recall correctly, she’s spent some time advocating stem cell research. R. Reagan also had a pretty reasonable approach to immigration (at least from Mexico). It was Clinton that severely curtailed Mexican immigration into the US.

And I read in some checkout newspaper that Peter Lawford and Robert Walker drove to Las Vegas with her and alternated in the back seat. Lawford was quoted as saying she “gave the best ‘unnatural sex’ (newspaper’s euphemism) in Hollywood,” so I guess she was lively at some point. And the way she looked so wet and gooey when she was filmed with Sinatra showed there was some life in the old girl yet.

Ah, here is the book the paper was quoting. Might be worth a penny plus postage for a laugh.

You realize that the debate is that Obama backed out of was one in which only the Democratic candidates were participating. Backing out of a debate with several candidates of your own party is very different from backing out of a debate where you represent your party against the other party’s nominee.
Did you read the rest of the article where the head of Fox News was joking about how Obama and Osama Bin Laden had similar names? You think he was going to get a fair shake on FOX?

You just pointed out that the debate was among Democrat candidates. So - do you think Fox would have tried to help some other Democrat candidate against Obama? I thought you guys have convinced yourselves that Fox hates all Democrats equally.

You have many convenient misconceptions.
