Braves' Pitching Great Lew Burdette Dead at 80

As a die-hard Braves fan, I must sadly report that Lew Burdette died in Winter Haven, Florida yesterday from lung cancer.

As a Milwaukee Brave, Burdette was MVP of the 1957 World Series after going 3-0 with an 0.67 ERA and three complete games in a 4-3 series win over the New York Yankees.

Three complete World Series games!! That’s unbelievable! Oh, and two of those three were shutouts!

From all accounts he was a very decent man.

RIP, Lew!
