Brazil: Losing 7-1 to Germany or 1-0 to Argentina?

Which do you think would have been worse for Brazilian fans in last year’s World Cup - their 7-1 drubbing by Germany in the semifinals, or a hypothetical 1-0 loss to archrival Argentina in the final?

I think despite what any Brazil fan might say definitely the loss against Germany. Nobody has ever lost by that much before in a match so important. It is Brazil’s biggest worst scoreline in their entire history and it was in the World Cup semis And it was in Brazil. Ouch.

I wouldn’t know, but as an Englishman, I think losing 7-1 to Germany in the semis would be slightly less traumatic than losing 1-0 to Scotland in the final.

What is worse is that the scoreline didn’t flatter Germany and everyone knows that.

It was by far the worst drubbing I’ve seen in international football.

A hard-fought close defeat at home to the archnemesis in the final would hurt and would burn for years of parents telling their sons who’d tell theirs, and looking forward to some day turning the tables. It would pass into history like the 1950 Brazil-Uruguay final. A few more buses would be overturned and coffeehouse windows broken. But there would be honour in it.

A 7 to 1 curbstomp wherein the domination and humiliation was piled on thick, by Germany, also at home and in the semis, was just spirit-shattering. Fans worldwide in every country were going wait, surely you must be kidding me? But at the same time it was such an embarrassing reaming that there sets in a certain sense of there being nothing you could have done, as well as a recognition that you are unlikely to ever “get even”. So there’s that. You’re one of the great teams AND one day you got one of the worst shellackings in the Cup’s history, live with it.

1)Losing 7-1 at home
2)in a World Cup
3)Wasnt it 5-0 after 30 minutes?

The only way it could have been worse for Brazil would have been losing in similar circumstances to the Argies.

Agreed…freaking Ozil.

Although a 1-0 loss to a Scots team good enough to actually make a WC final couldnt be that traumatic. Maybe 3-0.

Brazil getting dominated by Germany was bad and proved that Brazil was a bit of a paper tiger, particularly with Neymar injured, but losing to the Albiceletes in Rio would have been worse. And even moreso if Neymar was playing.
