Breakfast cereal

But didn’t the Swiss invent muesli? (Also DDT, but that’s a different matter.)

Muesli is exactly what I meant. I explained it for American readers who may not know what the term means. In England they say “muesli” instead of “granola”. They’re similar but not identical because muesli is raw oatmeal while granola is baked oatmeal.

DDT came from Switzerland? Ugh. Some countries still use the stuff although it’s banned in America. I wonder who invented organic farming?

So is Quaker Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice still Shot From Guns?
That used to be a commercial Slogan.
Were they ever Shot From Guns?
If so How do they do that?

They sell muesli here in the states, but it’s pretty much the same as what the British call muesli. Definitely not what you described.

Another difference is that granola has lots of brown sugar which makes things clump together into difficult-to-chew chunks, whereas muesli has no brown sugar and everything is loose.

Just consider it a food additive and don’t worry about it… [insert smilie thing here]

Ooh! A question I can answer.

Do not feed honey to children. They are indeed more susceptible to botulism toxin, made by Clostridium botulinum. It is found in “homemade honey” most often in the US, as this is something that is canned but not pasteurized.

The effect of the toxin is flaccid paralysis, which eventually leads to cessation of breathing. The toxin is extremely efficient, and in fact is one of the most toxic substances known to man.

The Swiss also made LSD.

The stuff we have here is for all intents and purposes “Sugar Krisp” or “Honey Smacks” or “Golden Smacks” or whatever, but is indeed named “Quaker Sweet Puffs.” You know, it is the type that comes in the bag instead of the box. I always prefer this, as it gets ants, and I love to freak my wife out by eating the ants along with the cereal.

Here are a couple recipes for homemade Grape-Nuts:
