Breaking Bad 4.02 "Thirty-Eight Snub" 7/24

Hey, it’s just like Seinfeld. All the episode titles are simple nouns.

And the next episode after this coming week?

“Pizza Scissors”

I both agree and identify with this. I tend to push people away when I’m in a pretty shitty place - it’s only the people who continue to act normal with me who I don’t. Marie was being supportive - but it could very easily come across as phony enthusiasm. That annoys me greatly (even when I know it’s coming from someone who means well), and I’d have gotten really snarky with her.

You can learn a lot by looking at the top billed cast too. In the next two episodes there will be a character named Sketchy The last few episodes don’t even have names on IMDb, but they do have the characters Drug Plane Pilot, ER Visitor, and a police detective

It’s funny you worded it like this. When we first hear the PT guy encouraging Hank, I was waiting for Hank to say “Could you stop talking like a douche for 3 seconds”

What I found really interesting was how he reamed out Marie last week when she mentioned that he ‘broke new ground’ yet this week when I assume he probably made about the same amount of progress we see that he was actually pretty fucking proud of himself. He was just acting that way around her.

The whole “Walt showing up at Gus’ home to kill him” was bit much. I get that Walt’s a bit out of his element here, but I have a hard time believing he’d be that stupid. What exactly was his plan?

Did he think that there was no security system? No cameras? Did he think Gus would be the one to answer the door? Did he think that Gus would be alone in there? That there would be no witnesses?

I agree that it was very stupid of him. If he hadn’t been stopped by Mike’s phone call, he had very little chance of success. Even an average person with no particular reason to fear for their safety would be very weary to answer the door for an unannounced person knocking in the middle of the night. No way would Gus have just opened the door unarmed and unprepared for the worst. (And he’d certainly have something much better than a snubnose revolver!) And even if he didn’t suspect Walt’s murderous intentions, there’s no way he wouldn’t have been extremely pissed at him for coming to his house under the circumstances. He’d likely refuse to open the door for anyone, especially Walter. Then, it would only have served to heighten his suspicion, complicating any future plans.

It was definitely up there on the list of dumbass things that Heisenberg has done.

Wow. You seem to know a lot about money laundering.

Or the UPS guy.

I think he’s a regular who gets credited whether he has scenes or not. MItte was credited too and I don’t recall seeing him.

Oh man, that is an excellent view of that situation. I will have to go back and check what Mike was wearing during the Victor neck slit. And if he was even close enough to get splattered. All 3 of them were shown to be pretty shaken this episode. I like your call.

He’s always been kind of of douche bag towards her. i think the difference here is that she let it slide in the past because he was always so strong and protected her. A kind of codependent relationship. With him unable to fill that role, the weird balance is gone from that fragile kind of setup. She now must be the protector, the strong one and he can’t cope and she doesn’t want that role. Just my opinion.

Or if they really want to complicate the plot she’ll bang Gus and Jesse.

At the same time? Some tension in that scene.

I think the plot is definitely heading in this direction. Showing the unintended collateral consequences (like the plane crash) of Walt’s actions. And it would be hard to blame Marie.

Did anything ever come of Marie’s kleptomania side plot from several seasons ago?

He appears when Skylar’s on the phone with Walt.

Marie is treating Hank like the child she so desperately wants and will probably never have, unless she gets knocked up by the PT guy or someone else. Though from PT guy’s reaction to her veiled come on, he doesn’t seem very interested (and probably gets hit on by the wives of his clients quite often).

I didn’t think she was coming on to him? Are you talking about asking him to come on full time? To me that was because she saw how happy Hank was when he was around and she knew (especially based on that high five he gave her) how nasty/pissy/self-loathing he would be as soon as PT guy left. Though I’m not sure if she wants him around because Hank is happy when he’s there or if she wants him around on based on the thought that the more he’s there the sooner Hank will be back to normal. Either way, I think she’s just trying to save her marriage.

But if you think she was coming on to him, he could be considered another version of old Hank. He’s big, tall, muscular, energetic, happy, helps people (and he’s in the medical field, Marie is a nurse IIRC)

Interesting idea. I like it.

I think it was made obvious that she was at least interested. Whether or not she’d really do it or he’d go for it remains to be seen. What could happen instead is that Hank could pick up on it and freak out at either Marie or the therapy guy, or both.

I think Walt is simply concentrating on survival at this point. He’ll worry about business after he assures his own survival.
