Breaking Bad 5.11 "Confessions" 8/25/13

They’re really painting her as a sort of loathesome underworld Marie Antoinette. She has a $3,000.00 pair of shoes on, but she doesn’t want to know how she could afford them.

Good quote. I think it applies to Hank as well as Walt. Hank’s pride is not letting him think rationally about how to deal with the situation. He’s been duped for over a year by his own brother in law, and its only his pride at not recognizing the signs about Walt that is stopping him from laying it all out to the DEA. The more Hank stalls and does dumb things like unauthorized survelance of Walt, the more he digs his own hole.

Great line!

Re: Hank survelance of Jesse, not Walt and other such bone head moves will sink him further with the DEA. I think his wife is right to get it over with now. Walt knows exactly how to push Hank’s pride button. Marie doesn’t have that same filter.

Not only was it creepy, but for me Uncle Jack was in stark contrast to the precise Gus Fring, who completely covered himself before killing, no hair out of place, always straightening his tie. Uncle Jack’s killings are not only cavalier, they’re messy. I think there’s going to be a blood bath soon.

Jesse is such a lost soul, isn’t he? Poor guy is almost accepting of his would be killer’s embrace, just to have a real father figure in his life.

Isn’t she pretty high up in the company? Like a VP or something? She was probably already pulling in some serious bucks.

I think Lydia wants all of this to be business. If she’s handling an account for Madrigal, it’s business. If she’s handling the manufacture and shipment of meth and arranging murders, it’s business. She was dressed for a business meeting and seeing the corpses would interfere with that notion.

Unless I misunderstood, these guys already killed Mike’s guys in prison and then we saw them wipe out Declan and his crew last week. Mike and Gus regarded killing as a last resort, but these guys don’t care. So if they decide they need Walt they certainly won’t hesitate to get violent.

On the other hand, Uncle Jack’s associate (who has a name?) certainly appreciates the power of a perfectly groomed mustache. :stuck_out_tongue:

Prediction: Walt goes into hiding now. The Nazi crew realizes pretty quickly that Todd is an idiot and that they need Walt. They kidnap Walt Jr to get Walt out of hiding. Skyler informs Walt of this through some prearranged emergency only signal. Walt buys the big ass gun to get revenge, maybe with Hank’s help.

She is. But the real money in Madrigal is built by a drug empire, not chicken franchises.

Do you think Walt is going to use the services of the vacuum cleaner parts salesman (the same one he came close to using when he learned the money was not in the crawlspace)?

It’s certainly possible that’s how he gets to New Hampshire, but ever since Saul mentioned the guy I’ve wondered if in fact that’s the way Saul sends people to Belize. (“I’m telling you, you’ll never be heard from again.”)

Kenny.

I’m calling it now: “OMG, you killed Kenny!”

Then Walt starts telling Jesse how they’ll start all over again to build a fortune, and in an homage to “Of Mice and Men”, Jesse puts the mad dog out of everyone’s misery with a bullet to the head.

That was an excellent episode. There’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said, but there were two little things that amused me.

  1. Basically the only men on this show who don’t have shaved heads are the Neo-Nazis.

  2. Breaking Bad seems to be heavily sponsored by drugs. Knob Creek bourbon and 5-hour Energy Shots both had prominent product placement this episode.

I still don’t think Walt went to New Hampshire. He went to Denny’s, and flashed a New Hampshire driver’s license, and told the waitress he had just driven cross country. I think he was trying to shake somebody (be it Cartel, DEA, Neo-Nazis, or APD) by getting them to look for a nonexistent suspect from New Hampshire.

Why do we assume that Todd made less than stellar meth because he’s an idiot? Has he done anything to suggest he is?

Maybe he made crappy meth because his bosses weren’t interested in providing an environment in which it was possible to make really good meth. Since the Todd and the Nazis knew where the lab was, I take it that Todd was also cooking in that horribly dirty buried bus.

His car has New Hampshire plates.

To suggest that he’s an idiot and not nearly as capable as Jesse? Have you been watching the same show?

He would have had them make it a cleaner environment. Just like Jesse did in Mexico.

As others have pointed out, Skyler and Marie are sisters. Hank’s last name is Schrader and Skyler’s maiden name is Lambert.
