Breaking Bad 5.12 "Rabid Dog" 9/1/13

Prediction: Marie will be the next to die.

The “Just kill yourself” line and the visit to the shrink have set it up. She’ll somehow sacrifice herself for the kids. And Skyler’s “What’s one more?” line will come back to haunt her.

I’m probably wrong though

You misunderstood my meaning. When I asked what Jesse would be willing to do to Junior, I wasn’t suggesting violence, or even necessarily any kind of actual physical harm. (Technically, Brock’s poisoning wasn’t violent, but it *was *physical harm.)

There are lots of non-violent things that Jesse could do involving Junior. At this point, now that Jesse has made clear that they are now enemies, Walt’s only direct vulnerabilities are his immediate family members. He hasn’t cared about the status of the meth operation, and even if the situation forces him to (temporarily) return to it, it will only be as a means to an end.

Hank and Jesse’s only play is to use Walt’s family against him. Somehow. No violence necessary or required.

I’ve spotted the following potentially meaningful titles so far:

Rat
Big Secrets
Destiny
Final Days
The Money Harvest
Guide To Financial Privacy

…plus some Stephen King novels, some books on the body language of horses, a lot of completely unrelated stuff, and a bunch of titles that are too blurry to read (I need a better screen shot).

What’s up with the horse books?

I recall a few seasons back, on the eve of Junior’s birthday when he gets the PT Cruiser, Jesse beat the crap out of Walt, and the day after, Junior went to his dad’s apartment to check on Walt since he missed his birthday. Walt, all hopped up on pain killers, called Junior Jesse. So you have seeds of doubt material right there if Jesse spills the beans to Junior, especially if Jesse gives Junior his name during that conversation.

There are a number of financial (pop finance, actually) books. Also:

I just looked at the synopsis for The Blue Nowhere. In the book, the head of The California State Police Computer Crimes Division uses a convicted hacker to help him catch the murderer. That’s pretty close to Hank utilizing Jesse, and seems like it might be more than a coincidence.

Didn’t Jesse once have a very awkward dinner with the White family?

Just Walter and Skyler.

Episode 506, “Buyout”. That was when Junior and Holly were staying with Hank and Marie.

Well. . .featuring Anna Gunn, anyway.

How long can the Whites keep Junior in the dark? Sooner or later he’s going to start asking some tough questions about the status of aunt Marie’s computer problem.

No The Color Purple?

He’s not going to suspect anything unless Jesse or Hank and Marie tell him the truth.

How great if Walt Jr just said, “Hey,Dad, all my friends at school wanna know if you’re ever gonna cook again. They say this new meth sucks.”

You know - with all the secrets everybody has been keeping on this show it seems that Walt Jr should have a giant one as well. Could Walt Jr be hiding a drug habit? He doesn’t have the “junkie” look but could he be a functional user? I know very little about Meth but that would be a hell of a twist is Walt found out his son is a user.

He could be dealing a rival product, maybe?

I don’t think they’re going to spring something like that on us with four episodes left. I do think that Marie’s therapy is going somewhere. Either he could turn to stealing and lying again, as she has when under stress in the past, or she could try to put that knowledge of poisons to use. If so, we know it’s not going to work out like she planned because Walt doesn’t die any time soon.

Yeah I’m mostly kidding/speculating.

As am I, though I really do think a twist involving a secret of some sort from Walt Jr would be in order.

I also agree that Marie’s Kleptomania is going to come back in some way - it’s too important a character trait to let drop.

I at first thought that the therapist would misinterpret what Marie was saying as her believing that Walt was molesting children. He would have a duty to report that which would definitely take the show in a weird direction. But there was something that I don’t exactly recall that she said later in the session that seemed to not match up with that at all.

I can imagine Marie doing something desperate that compromises Hank. Or even inadvertently poisoning Skyler.
