BREAKING NEWS: Power outage in NYC

What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany’s during a power outage that I cause by shorting out a transformer. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier, it’s priceless. As I’m taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It’s her father’s business; she’s Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning the cops come, and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada - I don’t trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard: I have a son, and he’s the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris, by the Trocadéro. She’s been waiting for me all these years, she’s never taken another lover. I don’t care. I don’t show up. I go to Berlin. That’s where I stashed the chandelier.

But she finds that you were there by using the only search engine at the time that had both an advanced random algorithm as well as spending money on the best and finest back-up generators money could buy. It’s little known and never used, so there was absolutely no chance that the servers would crash.
When you arrive, she is already there waiting… and she has it stashed someplace else.

She calls that move… the “Chandelier-BING”…

Ok, help me out. what’s the significance of July 13th?

The Broadway theaters including the ones in Times Sq metaphorically “went dark” on Oct 28 and 29 2012 due to Hurricane Sandy; all performances were cancelled. However the area didn’t lose power even though large stretches of Manhattan less than a mile away did, 30th St and further south.

See post #3 in this thread.

Broadway theatres also “went dark” on September 11 & 12, 2001. For one obvious reason. And they were the first to get back to business on September 13, 2001.

Kudos to the casts of the shows like “Dear Evan Hanson” and “Come From Away” who came outside and sang to the masses during the blackout.
