The gun was an ‘AK-style rifle with a scope’, and the gunman was 400 to 500 yards away from Trump. Seems like that would be an extremely long range shot for even a trained marksman?
Not extremely long rang, but long enough you’d need to practice. If he was hiding near the course and waiting for Trump to get closer, then that wouldn’t matter though.

No. Of course it depends on skill.
It’s not even long range which is usually defined as 660yards + (600m).
“Extreme” long range is over 1,000 yards.
Late: I’ll add that it’s a real world scenario (not a target, even if moving, at a range) and that makes it a tougher shot.

From Hawaii. I’ve found what appears to be his LinkedIn profile but I’m not clear on rules about sharing a link to it.
The photo on the profile appears to match the picture of him shared earlier. Looks like he’s originally from North Carolina and has a business in Hawaii building houses. I guess I shouldn’t share more details until it is confirmed this is 100% the actual guy but it looks like him to me.
I see a post on Xitter from a guy named Rob Pyers (no idea who he is) saying FEC records show Routh contributed to the Tom Steyer, Andrew Yang, Elizabeth Warren, Tulsi Gabbard, and Beto O’Rourke 2020 presidential campaigns.

His FB page looks to be gone but I saw some screen shots being shared online in support of Ukraine and very anti-Russia and DJT. No idea of course if these are genuine but they look to be.
Also, seeing some info he was involved with trying to recruit people to go fight in Ukraine.
And a Tulsi Gabbard supporter and Covid Conspiracy theorist.
