Bri1600BV Has Shown Me The Light!

Just make sure if it has three leaves, do NOT use it.

But once the teabaggers get on it once, you have to sanitize it to make it safe again for the rest of us.

As I’ve said before in many threads, I am of the firm belief that Curlcoat isn’t really like she comes across or pretends to be.
I cannot fathom someone really being so exaggerately obtuse. She is literally like a kid with fingers in her ears going “lalalalalala, I can’t hear you…so no matter what you say, you’re wrong and I’m right”.

So I’ll say it again…curlcoat is a troll, IMO.
Yes, there are really people with that kind of outlook on these matters, I know, but curlcoat takes it wayyy above and beyond what any normal, reasonable, and factual person would, I think
I really think she’s just here playing a part to rile up as many posters as possible and to create as many arguements in as many threads as she can.
Seriously, NOBODY can be that stubborn and ignorant. Nobody can be said to “HEY, you’re wrong. And here’s proof!” and reply with “Noooo, you’reeeeee wrong!!!”
Sorry guys, that’s a troll in my book.

You have an idealized view of the human race. In my experience, such titanic levels of stupidity not only exist, but they are common. However, it’s not usually an all-the-time thing; it’s something a person turns on when they would otherwise have to admit that one of their deeply-held beliefs are wrong. When you go back to discussing the weather or how they’re tending their rose garden, their brains switch back on again.

That isn’t my “scale” you are quoting there. I have no desire to live down to the assumptions made by others here.

In other words - just keep sending money and don’t you dare complain about what we do with it or how much we demand!

Right?

There were no “resources” back then, and no I don’t really see the value in unemployed people spending time on a message board at the library rather than looking for work or training so they can get work. Even you can only come up with a support group and recipes in exchange for whatever it cost someone to get to that library.

Which of course has nothing to do with what I said, but you just carry on deflecting.

So you completely missed the part about MOST JOB APPLICATIONS ARE ON LINE THESE DAYS? It’s not just message board, you need the internet to “look for work”.

Cost to go to the library? I have three branches easily accessible by bicycle. Two of them I can also walk to. Why do you assume there is a cost to getting to the library?

And you don’t think learning how to save money by cooking more efficiently isn’t a bonus?

I’m sure you’ll just ignore the positives - how DARE those poor people use a computer just like you!

One of the reasons why I won’t live down to the expectations of the folks here is you. Nowhere did I say anything about job requirements and cell phones but boy you are going to pretend I did aren’t you? OTOH, if I am poor and the Census requires I have something I don’t have, they aren’t going to pay for it and it tends to be fairly expensive, I’d have a hard look at whether or not taking that job ends up being worthwhile.

Well, guess what? None of the jobs that I have had, nor those that my husband has had require that we fill out an application online. I went thru a service and he went thru a headhunter.

I wouldn’t know. The people here don’t seem to be able to come up with any real value to having computers in libraries, and I have no experience with them. I ask questions, I get snotty answers back from people like you. So, apparently, taxes paying for computers in libraries is not a good thing.

Apparently you are also too stupid to see the difference between taxpayer for 30+ years and someone who has paid very little in taxes, if any. Also the difference between being disabled and choosing not to work. Try reading for comprehension, eh?

Not quite. More like the amount of money that you actually contribute to these programs is likely so small that to stomp your feet about your money being spent in such a fashion makes you sound like a crazy person or an idiot. I mean, sure you sound like an idiot or a crazy person anyways. I’m just bored with that particular way of doing it and you should find a new one.

“Grrrr. Them poor people are just pissing away my hard earned tax dollars.” Like the government is just handing them a check with your name on it and telling people to spend like drunken monkeys (I’ve no idea how monkeys even shop when they’re sober. I just like the phrase.) cause it’s all on Curlcoat’s tab.

How many years does one have to pay taxes before they are eligible for welfare, or is it a net amount of taxes paid? Shirts and girgles. What sorta numbers you got rolling around in that disabled little head o’yours?

I understand what you’re saying and agree to a huge extent.

But I think there actually is a limit, depending on circumstances and varying from person to person.

If you say to a person something intricate, with many different facets and branches, I can see them still insisting they might be right.
But if you say to a person 2+2=4 and then show them: See, you have two || and then these two || and join them together
||||
Count them. How many are there?

As anyone can plainly see, the undeniable proof is right there. There are four.
Saying “No, you’re wrong, that’s not how it is” to that…is either being totally and factually insane (probably)…or just being a troll.
Because nobody, not even the most stupid, can deny there are four there and that two and two equal four.

The same has happened in many threads. Curlcoat not only has been told she’s wrong, she’s been shown cites and facts that prove, without a doubt, undeniably, that she’s wrong about a lot of things.

She ignores this, for one.
For two, she not only ignores it, she never gives up. Never. She’ll go on and on and on for 10 pages in a thread telling you “No, YOU’RE the one that’s wrong”. She must have the last word. She must keep fighting and must keep replying.

So my opinion is, she’s doing it just to get a rise out of people and keep threads like this one, and the “What else do you motherfuckers want” and the “People who hate children” and the “Curlcoat what is wrong with you?” threads going and going and going and going and all about her.
Maybe she just loves the attention. Maybe she’s just trying to rile as many people up in as many pit threads as possible. Maybe anything…but one thing I’m pretty sure of, myself…she’s trolling around.

That isn’t the subject here. If the thread were about the bailout of all those incredibly stupid mortgages, I’d be against them too. However, the subject at hand is levying even more taxes to give something for free or extremely cheap to “poor” people. People who may quite likely have those plasma TVs you saw, people who cannot be bothered to work to earn the things they want. Which does come right back to all of those bailout mortgages, since most of those went to people who had no business buying a house, but they just decided they “deserved” one right now. I guess because they did that, they ended up trading getting a house for having a UHC…

Haven’t yet seen anyone come up with their story that indicates that what happened to them was completely random. We all make choices, such as whoever that was that decided she had to have and keep a baby, when she was just barely making ends meet. But I am not supposed to see anything wrong with supporting her choice to have and keep a baby she cannot afford. Same with the 15 year old I know of in San Diego, who had and kept her baby and received quite a bit of assistance even tho she was still living with both parents. Or a woman I know who was in a car accident as a teen (her fault - she’d been drinking) and is now confined to a wheelchair - she has been on SSDI for the past 20+ years, has never worked, never gone to school to learn any trade and apparently she will never have to. The taxpayers have purchased a new power chair for her even tho she is quite capable of using her manual chair (and still does when she is going to be on grass) and then a new power lift for her van to get that chair in. And these are just the ones that are fairly recent, not the ones that I lived with (not literally) when I was dirt poor, who demanded everything they could get while earning none of it.

People who have been dealt a raw deal are one thing - people who blither thru life without a plan, clue or any sense of responsibility are quite another. Most people here don’t seem to be able to make that distinction.

And you completely missed the fact that isn’t necessarily true? Particularly in the case of the sort of job a poor unskilled person is going to be looking for - McDonald’s may have applications online, but it isn’t a requirement to fill it out there.

And even if it is? That still doesn’t address the fact that there seems to be quite a few people here who call themselves poor yet have plenty of time and maybe money to post to this board. It’s one thing to drop into the library to fill out a job app, quite another thing to be spending time catching up on message boards.

Why do you assume there can’t be? Not everyone lives in the city.

Could be. Or it could be that the person will end up spending even more money doing something that someone else thinks is “cheaper”. I sure didn’t need the internet to figure out how to live on cheap food.

Which, again, isn’t what I said but you go right on deflecting…

Uh huh. So because you think that my personal tax bite for all of the federal and state welfare programs must be small, I should just ignore it? Because it bores you? Hell, I’m spending thousands of dollars a year on just teaching the children of (mostly illegal) aliens to speak English, so why should I think that all of these handout programs cost me any less?

It’s a number of years. The amount of taxes paid determines the amount you get in disability.

I’ve asked this before and noone has bothered - cite? And what I mean by “cite” is proving that (generic) you have shown me to be wrong about something and I ignored it. Not that I disagreed with your interpretation and your response was to pound me over the cyber head.

And, of course, that isn’t true or I’d be spending my life in here, since I’ve posted to over 100 threads so far.

Which just proves you wrong, since those last two threads are dead and I wasn’t even close to the last poster in the first one (dunno about the other one).

Or maybe I just cannot believe how many stupid oblivious people there are in the pit. So when I have a couple of minutes, I come here and am amazed all over again.

You’re on disability and your tax bite for teaching illegal aliens alone is thousands of dollars a year? Fucking really? You’re really going to attempt to say that the amount of money your tax dollars go to one single program alone comes to thousands of dollars and you’re on disability. Only way you’d have that kind of money coming from disability is if you were an unmarried head in a jar with 742 kids to feed.

I’d also like to say that Lou Dobbs would be proud of your ability to shoehorn in a dig at illegal aliens in a thread that’s not about them at all. If he could find a hat to fit that enormous pumpkin head of his, he’d take it off to salute you.

Indeed, but I was referring to her government assistance being better than someone else’s because she’s paid her taxes for 30+ years (and thusly spent bajillions on them ingrate illegal immigrants) and was curious what scale she had for welfare.

Sorry. I actually didn’t read closely enough to recognize you were talking to the human black hole.

Get free while you can still achieve escape velocity. Stephen Hawking would agree with me if he weren’t dead.

I KNOW it’s useless to even try to talk to you, but allow me to attempt to educate you. I can’t help it, it’s my job. I’m a public librarian. I have a master’s degree in library science. I spend all fucking day helping people who have no idea how to use a computer fill out job applications, because these days literally almost every job REQUIRES that you fill out an online application. There is no paper option. If you want to work in any of the local school districts, say, as a janitor? Online application. Wal-Mart? Online application, although there is a kiosk in the store also. The Wal-Mart online application is particularly difficult to fill out if you have no experience in online forms, by the way. These people aren’t applying for professional jobs - menial labor now requires an internet connection. I am not exaggerating for effect.

I spend the other half of the day helping the same people with their resumes on the library computers. Guess they should be out looking for a j… oh, wait.

You made me just go check the news to make sure he wasn’t. He isn’t, as far as I know, but “Man with Spears tattoo steals earring-wearing dog”.

curlcoat: Spews a bunch of nonsense about how poor people and children, and oh dear God in heavens, poor people WITH CHILDREN, are ruining her life, and how it is ALL THEIR OWN FAULT that they are poor and ruining her life.

Everyone else: Points out the skrillion reasons why curlcoat is wrong. Assumes that nobody could be that willfully obtuse, or that stupid and mean.

curlcoat: Proves everyone wrong about that assumption.

Don’t get sucked in, people! It’s not too late! Save yourselves!

Sorry, it was a joke about one of the Republican messages: “If Stephen Hawking had the supreme misfortune to be British, he’d be DEAD!”

Thanks for the heads up on the Earring-wearing dog stealer. Um. Earring-wearing-dog stealer. Something like that.
