Inspired by this thread. Actually, I’m not even sure this is worth a Pitting, as I’m more exasperated than angered. That said, it’s been a while since we had a GQ thread with this much armchair speculation, ill-informed opinions, and outright Hollywood-inspired BS.

If you have a good source of information about military matters, please post it. I don’t care what your service record is or if you have ever even set foot on a base. I don’t care if you are just linkng to Army.mil or FAS.org. I don’t care if if it’s something you read in a book. But please don’t just BS your opinion, which was formed mainly by watching Full Metal Jacket and MASH*.:rolleyes:

:confused: Maybe I’m missing the point (I certainly don’t get the title), but Bricker didn’t post to the linked thread. :confused:

Bricker has kindly offered to allow the board to use his cigar cutter to remove a finger from those posters who post willfully incorrect information in GQ.

I don’t see it, in this case. I see one, maybe two, questionable posts in the linked thread, but nothing blatantly inaccurate, that I can see.

OK, I’ll admit that there was nothing blatantly inaccurate, so maybe the cigar-cutter penalty was uncalled-for. But there seemed to be a lot of armchair generalling to me. :shrug: To each their own.
