Bricker Challenger - The SME series (discussion only)

I am considering devoting the next Bricker Challenge to a particular subject area.

As fans of the form know, one of the charms of the Challenge (I hope) is that it’s all over the place, with a healthy mix of literature, opera, TV, movie, science, math, and other stuff.

At work, I’m writing a statement of work and transition plan that includes the services of a Subject Matter Expert. This got me thinking, and now I’m toying with doing a Subject Matter Expert-type Challenge…

I’d be curious to hear reactions, suggested subjects, and any feedback. Strictly speaking, I suppose this is an IMHO-type question, but as MPSIMS is the home of the quiz itself, I beg the mods’ indulgence in placing this here as well.

I like it, although any challenge from you is a good challenge. I just tend to not answer because the thread usually ha 20 replies by the time I see it.

Please make the next challenge on the subject of paleontology and evolutionary biology, specifically the mammalian fauna of South America and an Island Biogeographic analysis of the American faunal interchange.

Either that or the old “Gauntlet” arcade game. “Elf needs Food…BADLY!” “You just shot the potion!” “Blue wizard is about to die.”

I can only think of two restrictive subject areas that would be fair for EVERYONE:

  1. WWII American military aircraft.
  2. post-WWII American military aircraft.

Seriously, this is your baby, do what you want. The rest of us will join in if we’re able.

Bricker, with your permission, I’d like to change my sig for a while. “Proud winner of the Bricker Challenge.”

Are you ok with that?

Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque era art history.
Or Nethack. Older versions.

Oh damn, I am an idiot (I rediscover this about every week). I never won a Bricker Challenge, I won Chronos’ trivia challenge.

Er… when you win one, I’ll be fine with it.

If the subject is even moderately esoteric, it might severly lower participation. Maybe that’s a good thing, maybe not.

Anyway, I suggest either Marvel comics of the Bronze Age or Idiosyncratic Laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. (Motion craving oyer? I’m all over that puppy.)

Electronics and electrical engineering. Everyone knows that stuff, right?
