(I Googled looking for the Pit thread on Bricker. There are dozens to choose from! I chose this one because I like the title).

First some background. When the North Dakota GOP figures out a clever way to deprive thousands of D voters of their franchise, Bricker writes:

Therefore it must all be about Laws Laws Laws!! What is LEGAL! If it was legal for the GOP to deny those Native Americans and students the right to vote, then it was proper for them to do so.”

Bricker is an equal-opportunity hater. Georgia GOP wants to cheat a hundred thousand citizens of their franchise and Bricker is all for that too:

See, that’s the difference between your scheme and the one I support: mine was passed by the legislature, signed into law by the executive, and passed constitutional muster by the judiciary.

Yours hasn’t. But if you get it past all those hurdles, I’ll acknowledge it as legitimate law.

You get to define what “suppress,” voters means, and it won’t mean gerrymandering, and it won’t mean arguing that military absentee ballots should not be counted because they lack postmarks, which military mail often does, but it WILL mean Voter ID and voter registration roll verifications.

I wonder if he’s self-aware enough to see the irony. He’s condemning the Democrats who wanted to follow the law!

As ElvisL1ves points out, Bricker has his facts wrong but wrong facts are de riguer for modern Republiopaths; my complaint is deeper:

IIUC, it was illegal to count those military ballots but the majority of Democrats acquiesced to their counting without pursuing legal remedies — even though all know these ballots would favor Bush by a huge margin. This was to show respect to young Americans in uniform. And thus Bush, rather than Gore, became the 43rd President of the United States.

Regardless of the morality of the situation, the LAW required that the ballots NOT be counted. I am not entirely uncertain that Dopers who usually advocate for conformity with the LAW would not advocate for the LAW in this case also, were the party alignment reversed.

I’m in the Pit now so let me make my point with more straightforward language:
This hypocrite whines and whines that only the law matters when the law is on the side of Trump, the GOP and his other fellow cheaters and haters. BUT, when the GOP ILLEGALLY counts delinquent absentee ballots in Florida (and Democrats go along out of a sense of fair play, despite that it cost them the election) Bricker condemns the Democrats who wanted to follow the law!!
