Bricker has posted in two separate threads his disappointment at those beknighted libruls who called for Comey to get fired earlier, but are now upset that he got fired. Bricker furthermore, without anyone asking, informed us that he’s thought firing Comey was a bad idea all along.

I’m realizing he’s not just hunting for examples of liberal hypocrisy. He’s also fishing for validation for his own self-image of being a Man of Foolish Consistency–er, excuse me, a Man of Consistent Principles. And if we won’t give him that validation, he’ll give it to himself with one hand, while using the other to wag a finger at the rest of us less consistent beings.

The OP here is way overstated, but this is a pretty irritating tendency of Bricker’s.

The question is, is it irritating enough that you’ll stop responding to his posts? If not, then don’t expect to see a change, since his behavior is being rewarded.

See, that’s weird to me, because while I seldom agree with John, I don’t feel like he flouts board rules or denigrates entire classes of people. But hey, if you’ve got a litany of his sins that you want to enumerate in a Pit thread, I’ll read it.

I don’t think Bricker does any of that either. I’ve seen Bricker admit he was wrong before, and that’s something you rarely see on this board. I’ve never seen him “denigrate entire classes of people” or “flout board rules,” but I’ve only been here 10 fucking years next month.

John is just to busy copulating mods in search of a modship. He comes across as nauseating much of the time, like that kid in the third grade that always wanted to erase the blackboard for the teacher.

Well, the thing that bugs me about it is that it need not be a hypocritical stance. I personally thought Comey was going to get fired early in Trump’s administration, since he seems to have pissed just about everyone off. That he lasted this long surprised me.

I wasn’t calling for his resignations then; I wasn’t calling for it now. That doesn’t make my opinion any purer or more consistent/non-hypocritical than those who were calling on his firing then and are upset now. Context is everything. If he had been fired in January, there would have been little ruckus from the original anti-Comeyites. The timing of it now makes it stink like dog shit on a hot summer’s day. Maybe it is just coincidence. But objecting to the timing and appearance of the firing of Comey now and being pissed and calling for his resignation in the summer/fall need not be hypocritical stances. And I, personally, do not think they are, even though it’s never been my stance.

He pretends to be this decent guy, but he argues evil things. He pretends to adhere to the same morals as we do, but then makes large circumlocutions to allow him to justify things that don’t fit those moral principles. He lets slip his partisan leanings all the time, while pretending not to be partisan. Oh, and the projection is obvious every time he goes after liberal hypocrisy.

He is also an asshole who thinks he’s right all the time and lectures everyone. It’s the same reason people hate me. He refuses to engage as he is, someone who is approaching a hostile audience, and instead of trying to work with us, loves to just poke fun and annoy.

And that’s not even getting started with his religion. He uses that as a refuge all the time, but ignores when conservatism is at odds with his faith. Sure, he can cling to it for abortion to be wrong, but he ignores it when Jesus said to heal the sick and give to the poor.

Instead he makes up contradictory bullshit about how he can believe what the Bible says but then still think that doing the opposite is better for the government.

And then there’s his textualism, which is the same thing as Biblical literalism, which his religion rejects. But he’s all for it when dealing with the law. He even admits he’s being “lawful neutral” when, inhernetly, a Christian must be lawful good.

Also, he’s a defense attorney who has argued that he has an obligation to fight for someone he knows is guilty to be declared innocent. This is more of his “lawful neutral” idea, that he prefers legalism to morality. Because of this, he is guilty of any subsequent actions by these people, so he is probably guilty of murder.

Just because he’s smarter than the average guy and can put forth a more convincing front doesn’t make him less awful. Sure, there are people here who are worse, but most of them can be ignored, while Bricker’s arguments look superficially good and thus we have to dismantle them.

Oh, and the argument being made is perfectly sound. Antifederalism doesn’t cause lives to be lost, nor is there an argument that what it does is worse than death. So it is perfectly permissible to put up the lives and say that Bricker is completely dismissing them with his arguments.

Finally, I disagree politically with my parents and friends. I don’t merely disagree politically with Bricker. Sure, he’s not Trump or Trump supporter bad, but I do think he ultimately is an immoral person.

That’s why he refuses to argue morals and pretends they can be different for different people. He has no moral center of his own, so he assumes that’s the same for everyone else.

He is, ultimately, a Pharisee.

I was going to pick selected passages in this post to ridicule, but looking it over, I see that the whole thing is simply an indictment of your ability to understand logic and reason.

Basically, you have taken your emotional reactions to some of his positions and tried to turn your misunderstanding of his expressed statements to pretend that they are irrational when it is your logic that is lacking.

I disagree with Bricker on a number of issues, but I, at least, take the time to try to understand what his actual position may be, rather than inventing a position for him based on some odd desire to paint him as “bad.” For example, your claims regarding his career as a defense lawyer portray you as more immoral than you want to claim that he is. In your unjust (and unconstitutional) world, a person who was brought to trial who was innocent, but who appeared to be guilty, should simply be hung out to dry if no lawyer believed he was innocent, since no “moral” lawyer would defend that person based on your preconceived notions and prejudices. (Your attitudes are what keeps the Innocence Project necessary, although it would seem to me that, based on your other hypocritical statements, you should be supporting defense lawyers the way that they actually behave.)

It is fun to watch you miss the point so loudly, however.

Anyone who follows the law before their morality is inherently an immoral person, by definition. I don’t want immoral people deciding my fate, so why would I be immoral deciding someone else’s fate?

And, yes, it is immoral to follow the law in this case. You are voting to intentionally hurt someone. If you don’t know if the hurt is balanced by the good of society, then you are risking hurting someone unfairly.

If I voted for something that got someone the death penalty, and I didn’t think they’d deserve it. I’d be committing murder. Just like a lawyer who knows their client is guilty is responsible for any hurt that person performs.

Anything else is just smoke and mirrors to try and justify an immoral action.

That’s so common a thread in the series that I can’t believe you’re asking for a cite. All of the fact cards that come with Thomas toys tout each engine’s desire to be really useful.

In “Thomas’ Train,” Thomas is thrilled that Henry’s illness will give him the chance to be Really Useful by pulling a train instead of just coaches.

Or cite for the proposition that the engines are purchased vs. recruited?

I think it’s fair to say that engines don’t roam the countryside looking for work. They are all employees of the national railroad system.

In “Salty’s Secret,” Salty arrives on the Island of Sodor eager to work near the docks. He’s disappointed to be assigned to the quarry – but there’s no sense he’s been enslaved and forced to work there. He’s simply been assigned a job he’d rather not have. Also note that Salty came from similar “salt air” work on the mainland prior to this assignment.

In “Horrid Lorries,” Sir Topham Hatt hires the three lorries to help with work. Does it make sense that lorries may be rented out voluntarily, but trains are slaves?
