Bring back the old discovery channel, i hate motorcycles

I miss the days of medical breakthroughs, documentaries, and endless interesting stories. now its just blue collar engineering shows over & over again. And that asshole father on american chopper annoys the shit outta me.

WHile im on the subject, disc. health sucks too. Much of it is about pregnancy and babies now. goddammit, i want to see specials on obesity and diseases, not 8 hours of ‘make room for baby’.

American Chopper failed to hold my interest after the first few episodes, but if you’re arguing with Monster Garage (or the Great American Biker Build-off, for that matter), there will be fisticuffs…

Discovery in the UK is quite good…

A few shows that I can remember off the top of my head - Industral Revelations (with that guy I can’t remember the name of from the fast show, who also played Arthur Weasley in the 2nd Harry Potter film).

Coltrain’s planes and automibiles (also a cast member of Harry Potter - Hagrid! . this show was originally BBC I think).

Hitler’s Henchmen.

I am sure there are plenty of others. My memory for even interesting things is crap these days.

You can always switch over to the History channel to learn about how the aliens who built the Mayan pyrimids influenced Stonewall Jackson, Not to mention the Danish Immigrant in Cleveland who invented rice in 1964.

I don’t know about your cable package, but I have a discovery channel dedicated exclusively to medical breakthroughs, and another one to flying, and another one in conjuction with the NY Times for history stuff, I guess, and one for kids, and a few more.

Maybe if that doesn’t come with your standard package you can look in to picking it up…it might be worth the extra money to you.

I get disc. health and normal disc channel. What all disc. channels do you get? my disc. health is about 1/3-1/2 devoted to babies and maternity.

I think i get disc. wings but i dont really watch it. i wish i had disc. NY Times but that costs extra.

TLC is another channel that lost its value to me. now its all about interior design, and i dont give a damn about that.

Have you tried the Trading Spaces channel?

http://www.discovery.com/

I get TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery, Discovery health, discovery wings, Travel channel, science channel, home & leisure, discovery wings & discovery kids. I got the ‘family pak’ upgrade with insight due to all the science channels.

I also get History & History international. both really good channels btw.

I get most of my television science from TVO and PBS nowadays. I find the History Channel is still pretty good.

You mean there’s shows on the History Channel that aren’t about World War II and Nazis? Fascinating.

Time to turn on “Miraculous Church Makeovers with Sister Angelica” on EWTN.

BTW, here’s the Discovery Health channel schedule. Baby shows have been highlighted.

8.5 hours of babies, 4.5 hours of EMT geekery, two hours of open eyeball surgery, and one half hour of anything educational.

There aren’t a lot of them, but they’re there.

Of course, they all have to mention Hitler in some way or another.

“It was 1864 and the Civil War was in full swing. Yes, 75 years before Hitler’s lightning war against Poland, General Lee…”

-Joe, HC watcher, hates Hunter Ellis

I hear ya…lots of people feel that Discovery sold out. I watch the motorcycle show once in a while, but I’ll tell ya…if that prick was my father, I’d be doing time for patricide right about now.

I hear the gay community generally finds him to be deliciously hot. Is this true??

Well, pard…when the little lady counts three, slap leather.

A pack of goobers with a sawzall and a blue-tipped adapter are NOT my personal idea of education or entertainment.

“Discobery Science” is pretty good. looks at watch But you have to hurry, by august it will be lost to whatever fad comes next. “Junkyard Wars” is already beginning to take over.

I agree that the discovery channel has gone to hell, but doesn’t this post belong in Cafe Society or something?

Oops thought I was in GQ. Sorry

I refuse to watch Hunter Ellis show because they used Gilbert Gottfried in the ads. I’m not watching ANYTHING he advertises.

I think Saddam is becoming the new Hitler. Every military program has to end with something about Saddam. Tanks? The last five minutes’ll be devoted to…“Saddam Hussein’s 80s-era T-72s couldn’t save Iraq…” Artillery? “Saddam Hussein tried to build a supergun”.

But I love American Chopper. Watching Paul Sr. yell is like watching a great artist at work. It’s a beautiful thing.

I still say the majority of Discovery’s daytime programming, especially DSC, TLC & AP, are aimed at homebodies who are tired of all the talk shows & soaps.
