Bringing protest sign material on an airplane?

There’s an anti-Bush rally in DC on March 17, and I want to go and bring a sign. Also I want to go by air. So the problem is that you’re not allowed to board an airplane with a stick. I know I read something somewhere with lots of good ideas for how to bring along something that’s permitted, but can be used to display a poster when you get off the plane. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Wouldn’t it be easier to buy a stick when you get to DC?

Yes but I want to get down there and back on the same day. I don’t forsee time for shopping for a stick.

Sticks have been outlawed in D.C. Only law enforcement and celebrities are allowed to posses them.

Anyway - why not just roll up your sign and place it, and a stick, into a chart tube (blueprint tube, whatever) and check it? Mailboxes Etc has stuff like that.

Aren’t you allowed to put a stick in checked baggage?

Or use the tube itself as a stick?

Or use your dick as a stick. I think that would really convey the message you want to convey to Bush.

A guy in England was refused passage on a plane because he was wearing a T-shirt with an anti-Cheney message on it. No cite sorry

A sign would probably bring the same response. Sounds like freedom of speech does not extend to the airways anymore. I think they’d probably say it would rile up the passengers and create a Terroresque Ruckus. WTF.

in winter, lots of vacationers travel with long sticks. Two long sticks for your feet, and 2 shorter sticks for your hands.
Except that they aren’t called “sticks”—they’re called skis and poles.
Couldn’t you ask about the airlines baggage regulations, and check your stick?
It would probably help to wrap it in bubble wrap, too, just so it doesnt look threatening.

“I used my dick as a stick for you”.

It’s starting to sound like I should check it.
