Anyone else going to the music festival, held on State St on the border between Bristol, TN and Bristol, VA, this weekend? If you are close by or even many miles away, I highly recommend it. With artists like Robert Earl Keen, Sam Bush, Doyle Lawson, and probably a hundred more you or I have never heard of, it should be terrific. I’ve only been once, two years ago, but saw many new and amazing artists, and was truly stunned at the breadth and depth of the types of music there. It will have bluegrass, country, old-time, jazz, hell, probably every genre of American music will be heard at some point. What I really like about it is the venues. They have outdoor stages, shows in intimate storefronts, at least three large, classic old theaters that I remember, and the atmosphere is down-home and friendly. I hope at least one person reads this and decides to go because of it!
