Petty Duke’s memoir “Call Me Anna” relates her years of suffering from bipolar disease. She was always looking for a cure, feeling there was something physically wrong with her.
She did get pregnant outside of marriage, then marry a man she now claims she never slept with (but somehow DNA testing proved he is the father of Sean). She married John Astin and had another son.
She claims that motherhood decreased her bipolar episodes. As she put it “It was only a bandaid, but it was one of the bigger, cleaner bandaids.” She laster got diagnosed and is on lithium.
Being bipolar doesn’t mean you have to act like a total shit.

I think the point some people are trying to make is that her resourse are an obstacle to diagnosis and treatment, not an advantage.
What about the mandatory 72 hour “lockdown”- guess that was another tall tale.
All we can hope for now is that she breaks into the Ferderline compound, takes the kids and makes a break for Mexico.
it’s “up to” 72 hours, if she’s no longer a danger to herself or others, they have to release her. I would point out that the latest episode occurred w/the court appointed monitor in attendance, which means there would be an independant report going to interested parties, so it would no longer be he said she said, disgruntled employees reports. I’ll be very surprised if there’s not a CPS reporting in progress.
You know, I don’t really know about that. Her latest effort, Blackout, is actually a pretty damned good pop CD (I’d argue her best) and up through its release, there was TONS of buzz among the folks my age. All of the gossip websites- which are usually full of Britney scorn- were abuzz with excitement about how amazing her comeback was going to be. Then she totally bombed at the VMAs.
Honestly, if she would have put on one of her amazing Britney performances like she had every time before, she would have had a #1 record for weeks on end. Sadly, she bombed, people lost faith, and while the record did do ok, it wasn’t a huge seller.
People like a good comeback story almost as much as they love to watch a trainwreck. If they girl can clean up her life, just be open and up front about what happened, and stick her name on some good, dancy pop music, I’d venture to say she could once again be pretty darned successful.
I think what her fans want is her to just be open and honest about who she is- if she does that, they’ll buy whatever she sells them. It’s like when she lost it last time and shaved her head- she wore wigs until she could get a full head of hair extensions. All of the comments on the gossip sites went on and on about how she should have just been herself and rocked the short hair. I actually think a lot of people were kind of let down that she didn’t.

Well, it’s good to know that she will finally be getting the best professional help available.
I will watch Dr. Phil for the very first time, if she shows up on the show. I may only watch it for five minutes before I decide that Stargate reruns are more worthwhile, but if it looks interesting I will watch it. Until she completely flipped out, I thought nothing of her. Now, Britney is fascinating. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
