Sweet! I’m an American, and I think Brits are the most attractive. Then again, I specifically like the gingers…
Still, I wonder if your opinions are skewed due to American movies and TV. We put out so many that you may think all of us look like that, but we don’t.
BigT’s right, most of us are fatties. We only let the pretty people be on TV, unlike the Brits who’ll let anyone on the telly. If you don’t want your gingers we will reluctantly take them off your hands for you.

I read this on another message board, and inexplicably it turned into a right old Brit Bash of a thread (something along the lines of 'what would THEY know, they’re the ugliest fucks in the world).

I like that the pollster quoted in the article calls attractive people “talent”. That’s a right good description from my teenage years.
Anyway, it’s self-evident that the US is the best looking nation.

Impossible. The Brits must think the Swedes and Norwegians come from Minnesota. To say nothing of the fact that they are exactly diagonal from the land of the perfect bottoms: A french bottom (SFW except for the sound) . Perhaps familiarity breeds contempt.

I think this might actually have a lot to do with it.
Even if we’re the most “attractive”, we can’t possibly be the “sexiest”.
We don’t even have British accents.
Apparently you are unfamiliar with the Genetic abominations that make up the Daytime talk show guest pool.
I’d just like to clarify that this Brit would not choose to look to the US for the most attractive people, he’d either go to Sweden or the Czech Republic. 
Clearly people on that other board don’t watch the BBC-A often enough. If they watched Primeval they’d see several cute guys and two lovely ladies, which would sway their opinions.
I’m not too surprised by the poll, though. Lots of people in the US have UK ancestory, particularly where I live: close to 50% of people in NH have English, Irish and/or Scotish ancestory, and with the exception of Conn. the rest of New England has similiar ancestory in at least 30% of the population…which isn’t surprising since Irish and English represent two of the three most common European ancestry groups in the US. The people polled probably subconsciously picked people from far away…who happen to look a lot like they do:)

yeah, but the highest ethnicity in America is German, who the Brits think are the ugliest.
Having traveled a bit, I have to agree with our British friends that the US, Spain and Brazil are at the top of the heap.
And if I may be even more of a homer, I think Atlanta is at or near the top of the charts in the US. (At least in terms of attractive females.)
It’s probably the teeth.
Actually, since there are studies showing that “averaging” physical traits leads to more attractive faces, I can see how the melting pot of the Americas might result in more attractive people.
