Anyone seen the currently running How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying?
I was in the show in Highschool, and I know I like the show a lot. I suppose I like the show enough that I would enjoy any Broadway production of it- even if the production isn’t considered very good by Broadway standards.
Do we know for how long Daniel Radcliffe is signed on to star?
I’ll be accompanied by someone to whom that will be a MAJOR bonus, but we won’t be going until the end of September.
Sorry for the self-bump.
Realized I had posted a Broadway topic when the East Coast was going to bed. Had I thought that out, I would have waited.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s seen it.
As far as finding out how long Radcliffe is signed on to star, I’m not sure how to go about that. So, if anyone knows- that would be helpful information.
Only places I could think to look were the Wiki page, the show’s own website, and IBDB.
About twenty years ago, I saw what was (to me) the definitive performance of How to Succeed, done by a community theater group in Ocala. I’ve seen Broadway shows since then, and I still think it measures up. I’d really love to see the actual Broadway version, but I wouldn’t want it to overlay my first memories of that show.
Funny you should bring this up today, I just got the Broadway cast CD from the library and that’s what I listened to on the way in to work. What part did you play?
It looks like Radcliffe is planning to leave in early January, so he should still be there in September.
Yes, I mentioned in the OP that I was “in” the play in highschool, but now that I think of it, for this show I think I did stage crew. For other highschool productions I was in the cast. If I was in the show, then I must have been in the chorus/picked up a few one line characters where needed- because I don’t have a specific memory of having a notable character. It really was a very fun show to be involved in.
Thanks for the info, RealityChuck!
I suppose this will be what we see then. It was third on my list (although a VERY strong third). I really wanted to see Hair- but it seems that will be closing before our visit. Anyway, knowing that Radcliffe will still be in it, I can be certain that my girlfriend would veto any other choices. O.K. by me, I expect we’ll both enjoy it.
And John Larroquette, who won the Tony for his performance, is contracted through January 2012 as well, so you should be good to go.
I really enjoyed this production! I was very impressed by Radcliffe. His singing was just OK as the show began, but improved as time went on, and you can tell he really puts everything he has into his dancing and the result is quite good. I thought the show was fun, upbeat, colorful and just really enjoyable.
