According to this article the play Equus will be coming to Broadway in September. In Cafe Society many people mentioned wanting to go see the show and the thought that it might make an excellent dopefest, not to mention getting to see Daniel Radcliffe’s naughty bits.
The show doesn’t open until September, but since this would be more complicated than getting together to watch a movie or play board games I thought it would be a good idea to mention it now so that people can start setting funds aside for theater tickets and we can all make sure that we have the same night free for the show, etc.
So, in the interest of a preliminary headcount, who would be interested in seeing the show and would be able to be in NYC around that time?
Since I feel more than a little pervy about thinking Daniel Radcliffe has grown up to be kinda hot, and I don’t relish trying to explain to my husband why I want to take a trip to NYC to see Harry Potter nekkid… I’ll have to settle for being there in spirit!
Radcliffe would probably not be hanging out with us after the show in the nude, TV time, but it is an interesting thought lol.
If you just want to come see the show because it is supposed to be excellent that is cool too. Naked Danielle Radcliffe would just be a bonus for those of us who think he is sexy.
I have indeed heard it is an excellent show. And I might just be in the area visiting family, but the real reason I responded was to be something of a bump for the thread.
I’m incredibly jealous, and can only hope that one day he may grace the Second City with his beautiful [del] treasure trail [/del] performance so that I may see it as well.
And, if ever a thread cried out for pics, I think this is it!
“Ladies and gentlemen please remember to turn off all cell phones and electronic devices. Please remember that cameras are not allowed no matter how badly you want a picture of Mr Radcliffe’s wang.”
Before the show opened theatre personnel were given extra training on spotting cell phone cams and the like and IIRC the standard “no recording equipment” notices in the program and in the theatre itself were made more prominent. I know of at least one website that has footage which is viewable by subscription. I’ve been debating whether it’s worth it to spring for the one month cheapo subscription…
Oh, and WhyNot, if you think you could swing the trip you are welcome to stay at my place. I would hate to think that you could miss the magic that is Daniel Radcliffe when Chicago is only a short plane/train/bus ride away.
Oh god. I am IN*. pbbth, you know, at some point I will need a little help with the subway system, et. al, but I would love to do this. I don’t ever get to see enough Broadway.
I hate to ask you this but do you think you could sort of take charge of this, let us know when tickets are available, etc.? Maybe make a little e-mailing list?
*The only reason I can see me being out is if the tickets are enormously high-priced. What’s the average cost anyway?
I will totally take charge of this, not a problem. The tickets will probably be expensive, but we may have some options to reduce the cost. Depending on how many people we end up having that want to go we might be able to get a group discount, or if that doesn’t work I will gladly send those who are going the link to my cheap broadway ticket hookup, broadwaybox.com. There are other ways to get discounts as well, and I will keep everyone updated about the different options available as time goes on. The show hasn’t even picked a theater yet as far as I can tell, so we may have to wait a couple of weeks to find out the range of ticket prices.
I will also scout out places to eat near the theater and we can make an evening of it, and I do have a hook up for discounts at NYC restaurants too, so we can hopefully save on the cost of dinner as well.
The list of people who definitely want to go so far:
Thanks, dear! Appreciate it. Up here I have, what, ten theatres? In the whole Capital District? (Albany, Schenectady, Troy). And I can’t even keep up with all of the things they do.
The play is dark - I just read the description - so people might want to read about it first.
Keep me posted. Let me know if you want my e-mail, I’ll gladly pass it over.
