Broadway restaurant recommendations?

The Mrs. and I will be celebrating another year of marital bliss next week with a couple of nights and a show in NYC. My familiarity with the restaurants isn’t what it used to be, as we usually have the family in tow and aim for more affordable options.

Recommendations for best food, experience, everything, preferably in the general stretch between Park and 8th in the upper 40s? My default right now is Hakkasan, but as good as it is, I probably won’t be able to tap their Van Winkle this time and it’s just a tad on the overpriced side, all things consided. (It’s not the money, it’s the lack of value, IMVHO, for that last 20% or so.)

So… suggestions?

You can’t go wrong with Sardi’s. Good food. Reasonable prices and they are very Broadway friendly and will get you out in time for your show.

Aureole is our go to place. They recently got their first Michelin star.

We’ve done Sardi’s. Have a pretty funny story about it. Most restos in the area are, if anything, too good about getting you out the door for a show; for one thing, you’re early trade and they’re anxious to clear your table for the next one.

Aureole was on the short list. (Hakkasan, Blue Fin, Aureole, maybe Hell’s Kitchen, so far.)
