I keep hearing Rod Stewart’s version of the Broken Arrow song on the radio. And I keep hearing it in my head as if a woman is singing it, specifically/probably Annie Lennox. It’s strong enough that it took me most of the way through my first hearing of the Stewart version before I realized what song it WAS; the lyrics alone put the ‘original’ song in my head, and it also has slightly different music. Now, it’s not ‘Broken Glass’ I’m thinking of, yet I can find nothing anywhere to make me think Lennox ever performed this. Now, it seems Robbie Robertson actually wrote this, and listening to HIS version, I still hear Annie Lennox. Am I nuts? Or maybe this is just a song she NEEDS to sing?
Just want to say that I like the Rod Stewart version of this song very much, but the first time I heard Robbie Robertson’s original, I was floored; such a beautiful song.
Not the same song as Neil Young’s of the same name, I assume?
Must be a Canadian meme. ![]()
Just checked it out – different song.
But that is a wonderful song!
Yes, it got confusing when I was looking up who actually wrote it. The Grateful Dead sang it, really? But different song.
So who is singing?
I think it depends whose head you’re in. I hear Annie Lennox, but that defies reality, so…hopefully she’ll cover it someday, and then I can just be living backwards. ![]()
Robbie Robertson and Rod Stewart are the only two that made it onto the radio, I think.
